Supporting Mental Health for COVID-19 Health Care Professionals Consultant  

Introduction  

The Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) is a USAID funded three-year project started in January 2020. In response to COVID-19 preparedness, LHSS will provide technical assistance through training to the MOH and private sector health care professionals.   

The Mental Health training targets health care professionals working in hospitals and aims to assist them in managing and coping with anxiety and stress they may suffer from during their work in pandemics. 

The training should also provide trainees with the skills and knowledge on mental health to support their colleagues at work and for self-care to reduce initial stress caused by traumatic events and work conditions in responding to pandemics.   

A senior consultant is required to deliver a recorded training that LHSS will publish online.   

The estimated level of effort for this assessment is 16 working days during the period of August –September 2020.   

Specific Objectives  

The objective of this training is to strengthen mental health and develop the skills needed for crisis intervention, active listening, empathy, and stress management among care-givers. Specifically, the training content should achieve the below learning outcomes:

Being able to recognize the levels of mental health risk for colleagues and plan how best to intervene
Being able to support colleagues whose profession puts them at higher risk of developing mental illness, depression, and anxiety.
Understanding the application of some tools and resources to help decrease levels of stress and anxiety among colleagues
Understanding what supervisors and employers can do to support mental health and resiliency of health care staff
Being able to identify self-care needs and create a self-care plan
  Tasks

Develop a training methodology and work plan to deliver the training.  
Develop the training outline. The outline should describe the presented content in each module and reference resources. 
Develop PowerPoint slides in Arabic...  
Develop summarized guidelines for health care professionals of maximum five pages based on presented content. The guidelines will be offered to trainees to keep and refer to after the completing the training. The guidelines should be submitted in Arabic. 
Prepare and present an online recorded training webinar on the topic.
  Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in clinical psychology with license to provide psychological counselling and/or psychotherapy. 
At least ten years of experience in counselling.
Proven record of previous experience in training and adult learning. 
Excellent command of Arabic and English communication and writing skills.
