Arabic – English Translator/Interpreter Project Officer - Temporary (SRO)

Generic responsibilities  
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Implement delegated CC project  portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
 
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
Provide NRC the translation  a wide variety of documents including, but not limited to: project documents, reports , official correspondence , monitoring and evaluation tools, internal communications , … and other relevant documents into English and Arabic conforming to the standards required by each project (Education; Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance, Shelter and WASH and Food Security and Livelihood)
Revise translation of all documents based on inputs of the requester of the translation
Observe established terminology and in-house usage, identify new terminology and actively contribute to terminology
Ensure accuracy and clarity of all translation produced
Provide accurate interpretation to and from English in official and internal meetings, workshops, seminars, training sessions, and as requested.
Meet deadlines by producing excellent translations of required documents.
At all times respect the anonymity of clients and confidentiality of all NRC documents.
Submit on a weekly basis activity report to immediate supervisor.

Generic professional competencies:
Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
knowledge of English
 
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Minimum 3 years working as a translator, preferably with an INGO, NGO.
Excellent command of spoken and written English as well as Arabic language.
English and Arabic typing skills required.
Good writing skills, high standard of accuracy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in CAT software an asset
Computer skills especially MS office.
Training or prior achievements in translation will be an advantage
