REACH is looking for a technical profile to join its Camps and Displacement unit in its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing related research activities. Most importantly, the GIS Assistant will support in detection of shelters using satellite imagery, conducting spatial analysis and finally making of maps based on spatial datasets. The candidate should understand concepts of cartographic design and be able to present the results of spatial analysis using static and interactive mapping products.
QUALIFICATIONS
Soft skills: Team player, fast learner, critical thinker;
Cross-cultural work environment Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility;
Academic: Excellent academic qualifications, preferably including a Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field (civil engineering, computer science), containing courses on GIS, Remote Sensing, Data Science or Geography.
Theoretical knowledge: Foundational knowledge of GIS and remote sensing;
Software skills: Knowledge of GIS software (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel); Experience in the CCCM sector (e.g. camp planning) and Experience using Google Earth Engine desirable;
Language skills Fluency in written and spoken English is required;
