Job Summary
Under the supervision of the INSO Information Manager, the successful candidate will be focused on meeting the mapping and spatial analysis needs within INSO, as well as providing IT support to the teams.
The GIS Officer position is a highly rewarding role, offering a unique opportunity to work with a team giving support in relation to the provision of safety services to the NGO community. The successful candidate must have a professional working proficiency in Arabic and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Geography, GIS, or a relevant discipline.
Minimum two years of GIS work experience, preferably with an NGO, with demonstrable experience in high-quality map production.
Excellent command of ArcGIS Pro and QGIS software
Excellent command of Microsoft Office 365, including PowerBI.
Fluency in English and Arabic language, both written and verbal.
Be systematic, proactive, innovative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
Excellent skills with data collection and analysis.
Familiar with Microsoft Publisher and InDesign is recommended.
Familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop and Illustrator
Familiar with basic scripting language. Familiarity with Python coding is desired to be incorporated with ArcGIS Pro model builder and/or Arcpy.
Understanding and working experience in the Syrian context is desired.
