Private Sector Engagement Officer

ABOUT RI: Relief International specializes in relief and development programs that benefit people in acute distress. A registered non-profit in the US, UK, France and Belgium, our work targets those fragile countries or communities that suffer from recurrent man-made or natural crises that impede human development. The people that we serve live in seventeen countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia where the debilitating effects of political instability, forced displacement, and natural disasters are pervasive. Often, RI is the only organization providing healthcare, education, logistics, energy, capacity building, economic development, sanitation, and many other forms of assistance to these highly vulnerable communities.

Position Summary:

The Private Sector Engagement Officer. will identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with and between chambers of commerce, chambers of industry trade associations, TVETs, and private enterprises; support job placement and work-based learning (WBL), serving as a point person for private sector engagement (PSE). This position will utilize experience mobilizing and effectively engaging private sector firms and business associations in the project catchment governorates and support sustainable institutional relationships between private sector actors and educational institutions and/or civil society organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships between chambers of commerce, chambers of industry trade associations, TVETs, and private enterprises.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for private sector engagement partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the Project Coordinator and Project TVET team in managing cooperation with stakeholders in the private sector, civil society, and national and local government and value chains in compliance with RI and donor policies and procedures.
  • Broker linkages with private sector firms in collaboration with RI TVET and Livelihoods objective teams
  • Communicates progress and challenges to diverse audiences, and to external stakeholders as needed, in both oral and written forms related to the development of private sector linkages.
  • Generate employment opportunities for RI’s livelihoods program participants establishing and maintaining productive employer partnerships in the project catchment governorates.
  • Support and Facilitate RI’s livelihoods program participants access employment options that match their career interests.
  • To assist Livelihoods participants in all aspects of the job search including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and job referrals.
  • Engage with employers and develop reciprocal beneficial partnerships for jobs, internships and job shadowing, OJT opportunities.
  • Responsible for maintaining employer database and candidates’ profile as needed.
  • Travel to field as and when required.
  • Any other cross functional initiatives as assigned by the line manager.

Managers / SMT (as per the role):

  • Support and develop systems that create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and abuse and promotes the implementation of the Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Safeguarding Manager to advocate for the inclusion of safeguarding activities and resources within program.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of donor requirements of safeguarding standards and protection from exploitation and abuse.

Program teams:

  • Ensure program design adequately addresses safeguarding and protection standards.

Managers level and above:

  • Ensure a positive and productive work environment which is free from harassment and bullying.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of diversity and cultural differences, gender issues and the commitment to equal opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant technical discipline or field including /Communication/Business Management/ Human Resources/ Information Technology, or related field.
  • Two (2) plus years’ previous experience as Placement Officer/ Human Resource Officer/ or related positions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, negotiation skills with ability to interact with people at various levels of the organization and outside environment, strong business, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience with private sector relationships to advance the project results and objectives.
  • Proven track record of youth placement in job roles related to IT, Hospitality, Beauty Therapy, Construction, Agriculture, and other related sectors.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Well informed of labor market trends, employer needs and best practices in career services.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure and disciplined.
