Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Organizational Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of Chief of mission and direct supervision of the National Security Officer, and with the technical/procedural guidance from IOM’S OSS Office of Staff Security, the incumbent will actively be assisting in the following mission safety/security support functions and applications.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor security guards assigned in the area under his/her responsibility act in a professional, trained and informed at all times in accordance with the local law in Jordan and formal manner, with IOM Staff, contractors, visitors and clients at all times.
  2. Prevent, and detect security situations through observation, early warning and response platforms to maintain IOM staff and property safe at all times.
  3. Administer set SOPs on calling procedures, information management, and 24/7 security response safeguarding IOM staff and assets at the office.
  4. Maintain registered filing system and tracking procedures for premises keys, valuables, and visitors support the current, and projected security controls at the IOM offices.
  5. Support in a coordinated function pre endorsed security guarding applications, and security control measures through an operational area and documented process.
  6. Support the IOM wardens system/Floor and Floor Fire Wardens under SRM Security Risk Management measurers in a coordinated process, when required to update staff contact lists, training to enhance this security contingency plan.
  7. Support the NSO-National Security officer in conducting CCTV survey and compliance with IOM security requirements.
  8. Supports in liaising with UNDSS and other local security stakeholders at the appropriate level.
  9. With the NSO guidance, maintain an orderly filing system for all security files.
  10. Respond to emergencies affecting the security and safety of the premises and notify the immediate supervisor or other designated staff immediately.
  11. Reporting any criminal incident or disturbances occurring on the IOM premises or in the environment next to the IOM building to the NSO immediately for advice on further action on them.
  12. Report to FSO of any potential or actual breaches of security or unusual activity at the time of duty to IOM building.
  13. Check daily on the handling of the IOM visitor`s logbook and the hand-over/take-over notes of the IOM security guards.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Mission-specific tasks:

  • Assist in security coordination the access control procedures for IOM premises
  • Assist in security coordination the access control for IOM applicant’s area.
  • Assist in security coordination the access control for IOM medical premises

Education & Experience:

  • University degree in related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum (1) one year of relevant professional experience; OR completed high school/diploma from an accredited academic institution with minimum (3) three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Prior experience with the UN system or an international NGO is desirable.
  • Knowledge of radio communication application.
  • Experience dealing with diplomatic security, protection and intelligence services will be considered as an asset.

Skills: 

  • Computer skills: MS – Office and Outlook.
  • Writing Skills: Arabic and English.
  • Strong Communication skills

Languages: 

Thorough knowledge of English and Arabic (oral and written)
