WFP Rome – Audio/Video (A/V) Technical Assistant G3 (2 positions)

We are seeking to fill two (2) positions of A/V Technical Assistant G3, based in the MSD Division of our Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Our Facilities Management Unit of the Management Services division, based in Rome, Italy, supports WFP colleagues in HQ and globally for the provision of guidance, oversight, and support for the management of building facilities.

JOB PURPOSE

The selected incumbent will report to the Senior A/V Technical Associate within the Audio Video team which is part of the Management Services Division within the Facilities Management and Infrastructure team, based in Rome, Italy.

The A/V Technical Assistant will be expected to provide support for the delivery of A/V services throughout HQ, and up-to-date technical assistance on A/V equipment and Simultaneous Interpretation Systems for WFP HQ meetings and events. The role will assist with monitoring and maintaining a wide range of information (e.g. user manuals, set up schedules, maintenance schedule and registers, etc.) that contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of A/V services in the Rome-based WFP Headquarters.

The position requires a reliable, solutions-oriented, and engaged team player who is committed to providing the highest level of quality customer service.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive)

  1. Operate A/V facilities and support the attendees during any meeting hosted in the HQ Auditorium and in the other HQ’s meeting facilities and rooms, dealing with the current A/V infrastructure;
  2. Provide technical assistances and prepare WFP meetings (in presence, virtual and hybrid) in a timely and correct manner, with flawless, hi-standard experiences for the participants;
  3. Contribute to deliver A/V support services in HQ facilities acting both as control room operator and room technical support when needed;
  4. Monitor the internal ticketing system for all the items related to A/V, supporting the resolution of any eventual issue or providing technical support to the supervisor or to any other team member as requested, answering and dispatching customer requests in WFP HQ;
  5. Compile and check that all the information about the A/V equipment is up to date and accurate within inventories, databases, and archives in order to support senior colleagues in managing those systems;
  6. Install, operate and maintain the SAT TV infrastructure and services in WFP HQ;
  7. Operate the HQ Videoconference facilities on IP network and liaise with the internal Information Technology department to solve any related issue;
  8. According to the maintenance program, carry out the necessary regular maintenance for the A/V equipment installed in HQ in coordination with the maintenance contractors;
  9. Support the service contractors with any A/V assistance or new A/V equipment installation;
  10. Assist with the design of new A/V installation in HQ and in the field;
  11. Perform other duties as requested.

SPECIFIC POST REQUIREMENTS (As required by the Hiring Manager)

Essential:

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of analogue and digital Audio and Video Systems.
  • Knowledge of Videoconference systems (e.g. Poly, Cisco, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Dante technology
  • Knowledge of Audio Video equipment working on IP network
  • Knowledge of the most common Simultaneous Interpretation System (e.g. Bosch, Televic, etc.).
  • Experience in providing reliable service to a variety of customers.
  • Experience and configuration of analogue and digital audio and video mixers.
  • Knowledge of Sat TV systems and their issues.
  • Experience on Bosch Dicentis multimedia simultaneous interpretation system.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Experience with facilities management/ticketing software.
  • Knowledge of Network Device Interface (NDI) or Serial Digital Interface (SDI) technology.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Completion of secondary technical school education with a focus to subjects such as Electronics and Telecommunications; Electrotechnics and Automation; Industrial Physics, Information Technology.

Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible and proven effective, hands-on experience in deploying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and managing complex and professional A/V systems, Simultaneous Interpretation Systems, Videoconference systems and A/V wiring and distribution equipment.

Language: Fluency (level C) in the English and Italian language.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work by objectives;
  • Ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relationships with cultural awareness.
  • Ability to work under stress and work overtime when required, particularly during high-level events;
  • Ability to communicate with diverse internal customers (WFP HQ users not familiar with A/V technicalities)
  • Knowledge of safety precautions.
