Main Chef

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen, and plans and directs food preparation and culinary activities to ensure staff are guided to perform their role.
  • Trains, develops and motivates culinary staff to meet and exceed established food preparation standards on a consistent basis.
  • Prepares food according to well defined recipes and follows up and discusses ways to constantly improve the cuisine at the kitchen.
  • Audit inventory levels to ensure product availability and order products as necessary
  • Maintain work area sanity to ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products to ensure food freshness and fit for consumption.
  • Ensures all equipment in the kitchen is properly maintained and in working order to ensure workers safety.
  • Ensures all products are prepared in a consistent manner and meet departmental appearance/quality standards.
  • Ensures proper purchasing, receiving and food storage standards in the kitchen to ensure high quality food used in preparation.
  • Follows and enforces all applicable safety procedures specified for kitchen and food servers to ensure their safety.
  • Frequently reviews the final product to ensure quality and presentation standards before serving it to the customer.
  • Coordinates with the team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing to control budget and reduce waist.
  • Coordinates between HQ Cafeteria and Daimeh Eatery to supply all shortage items.
  • Follows up with HQ Cafeteria and Daimeh Eatery regarding the quality of food to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Establish production and staff schedules to ensure that there is sufficient help at all times and ensure the timely delivery of food services.
  • Self-Management:
  • Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all competencies and skills required to perform the role
  • Sets performance goals in the beginning of the year after discussion with the Senior Human Resources Manager and ensures those goals are achieved during the course of the year
  • Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the line manager to ensure that the required training is arranged and attended
  • Ensures detailed and accurate documentation and reporting relating to the requirements of the function.
  • Manages, prioritizes and organizes self, relating to additional tasks requested by Function Management to support the Foundation achieve its business plan.
  • Performs other responsibilities and tasks as required or as directed by management from time to time.
  • Upholds the code of conduct and PSEA-related policies to ensure adherence to HR policies
  • Actively participates in SEA-related trainings and awareness-raising efforts, including support for dissemination of PSEA materials to ensure adherence to HR policies
  • Reports allegations of SEA through the designated reporting channels to ensure adherence to HR policies Participates in investigations of SEA allegations as appropriate to ensure adherence to HR policies
  • Identifies and mitigates/avoids SEA-related programmer risks (particularly for personnel involved in programming) to ensure adherence to HR policies
