CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic and maxilo-facial) to war wounded people and providing comprehensive health care. MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery Hospital in Amman is therefore recruiting (1) Specialized Technician/ IT.

THE JOB

Performing autonomously, IT installations, maintenance works and repairs according to supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards and procedures

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Apply and provide the network security protocols and procedures to ensure that appropriate access control is used internally on the LAN/WLAN’s, and to prevent intrusions.
  • Ensure updating and upgrading activities in order to ensure that all the users and their equipment’s on the network are standardized with respect to virus protection, software, hardware and network configuration.
  • Execute security management protocols (backups, anti-malware updates and software patching; firewall protection; etc.) in order to ensure an immediate operational recovery/continuity in case of emergency and data security & availability.
  • Provide corrective and preventive maintenance activities (check-up, cleaning, etc.), managing and updating a small stock of spare parts and replacing obsolete materials, when necessary, of ICT environments, telecom and hardware equipment, according to MSF policies and procedures in place at any time.
  • Performing any other task, specific to his/her area of specialty, as defined in his/her job description and according to the line manager.

Functional Support

  • Handle and/or route incoming questions from end users on the use of the tool, its inputs, or its outputs
  • Troubleshoot problems related to the applications
  • Report/escalate user identified bugs or serious issues to incident process and monitor and communicate progress towards a solution
  • Assist in carrying out corrective action as necessary (e.g. cleaning databases, reinstalling soft-ware) when a system bug or user error negatively impacts a tool and its usage

Technical Support

  • Assist in Installing new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, network infrastructure, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Providing the needed technical support for medical records or management applications users·
  • Ensure proper day to day operation of computer equipment, including data backup and crash recovery
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server re-sources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying com-pletion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Ensure assigned systems have required security support
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Assist in Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures.

Release Management

  • Assist in carrying out inventory of IT infrastructure and equipment upon need, and handing it over to his/her direct Supervisor
  • Manage the deployment of bug fixes, new features, and new versions
  • Maintain logs of details on deployed systems

Meetings and Administration

  • Assists in checking of monthly invoices
  • Participates in continual professional development
  • Maintains strict patient information confidentiality at all times

Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems (Windows or Linux workstation), in line with MSF standards and procedures under supervision of the IT Specialist.
  • Provide level 1 support to the users.
  • Follow-up and escalate higher-level technical issues to the IT Specialist.
  • Assist in IT stock management under the supervision of IT Specialist.

Reporting

  • Follow the communication line
  • Any additional tasks assigned by the IT Specialist upon request.
  • Handling IT items in proper way based on MSF standards.

PROFILE

  • Essential diploma or recognized formal training in the assigned technical area
  • Demonstrate experience in his/her technical area (minimum 2 years’ experience)
  • Essential at least two years previous working experience. Desirable in MSF or other NGOs
  • Local language essential, mission language desirable.

WORK LOCATION: Amman – Al Mowasah hospital – Northern Marka

CONTRACT: Full time contract, duration for (6) months.

Desired start date: February 2023
