Job Description: This role will provide leadership, conservation design and construction strategy and oversight, project development and stakeholder management for our heritage lead regeneration project in the Decapolis city of Umm Qais, in northern Jordan. The project started two years ago and has grown to encompass two traditional courtyard restorations and the restoration of a second century Roman theatre. We have broader ambitions for the site and this role will work with the Country Director and wider colleagues to bring this into reality. The role will be based largely on site in Umm Qais, with time too in our HQ in Amman. Responsibilities will include: • Conservation design development (architectural and engineering) • Site / construction management • Budget and finances • Stakeholder engagement including local government and community • Team management • Fundraising support / donor liaison / reporting Given the early stages of the project all the above elements can be managed by the Head of Built Heritage supported by a small team. As the project grows the Head of Built Heritage will need to recruit a broader team, and as such the role will grow with the project.
