Context International non-profit organization Turquoise Mountain has established a project in Jordan to support artisans and to promote involvement with heritage. The project works across high-end craft production for international markets, vocational training in traditional skills, cultural heritage outreach, and built heritage regeneration. Turquoise Mountain is seeking to hire a Jewelry enthusiast to contribute to our Jewelry Design and Production Department. Roles and Responsibilities: o Create technical drawings and renderings, o Create necessary documentation relating to products, o Assist in developing products, from sampling to production for showroom and external clients, in collaboration with Master Artisans and apprentices - including quality control and reception of finished goods, o Record production know-how and acquired knowledge, o Research and provide solutions to finishing and construction/making techniques, o Research and understand availability, alternative raw materials and supplies involved in production processes, o Research craft-making techniques and visual language associated with crafts while conducting meetings and interviews with artisans, o Visit workshops, follow up on production and communicate with artisans, o Document purchase of raw materials, o Document any invoicing and payments. Qualifications o Excellent oral and written communications skills in Arabic and English o Very good with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign o Very good with AutoCAD, Rhino o Very good freehand sketching skills o A degree in product design or architectural design is preferred o Photography experience is a plus Application Process To apply, please submit the following to [email protected] by 15th December 2021 (Email title: Jewellery Design & Production Assistant - Jordan): o Cover letter in English about your background, experiences and motivations for this post, o A one-page resumé, o A one-page portfolio with samples of your graphic work, o Please include your e-mail and phone number.
