is recruiting for its project in Amman a
Medical Activity Manager
CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman and is seeking a Medical Activity Manager.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIE
S/He shall oversee, direct and report upon the Internal Medical services at Al Mowasah Hospital and serve as the medical consultant for the Surgical and Anesthesia services.
S/He will supervise and manage the activities of all the ward physicians and the Antibiotic Steward at RSP in a manner to assure high quality medical and surgical care are delivered to RSP patients and MSF protocols are used.
S/He will supervise and manage the activities of the laboratory supervisor and of the microbiology laboratory activities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the medical activities (HIV, TB STIs, SGBV, etc.), according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.
Participating in the definition of annual planning and budget for the project and in the follow up of the programs/ project. Supervising and ensuring that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting to the technical referent any problem arising in the service
Checking all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up (individual card filling, registers, patient data entry, discharge, transfers ...) is carried out correctly and according to MSF procedures.
Ensuring an efficient microbiology laboratory management and monitoring the rational use of them. In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs. Ensuring proper biomedical surveillance standards are met as well as bio-security. Ensuring specimens are gathered by surgeons, prepared by the lab and analyzed according to protocol.
Coordinating and monitoring the daily working plan of the team under his/her responsibility (absent personnel, vacations, tracking leaves ...). Participating in shifts and replaces a doctor, if necessary
Planning and supervising, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to improve staff capabilities and to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required Participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc.).
Ensuring balanced budget expenditure and accurate budget forecast for all budget lines under his/her responsibility
Ensuring and validating appropriate external services including external tests, consultations, procedures and hospitalizations. Negotiating appropriate external prices along with OPD supervisor.
On call for medical emergencies at all times.
PROFILE
Recognized medical doctor diploma/degree.
Active Jordanian medical license from MOH.
Active registration with Jordanian Medical Association.
2 year working experience related to the diploma/degree or
Previous experience in MSF or other humanitarian NGO is considered an asset
Management degree or 2 year experience in a managerial position is desired
Strong management and proven leadership’s skills: ability to support technically, planning capabilities, organizational skills, documentation skills, communication skills and conflict management skills.
Computer skills: good knowledge of MS Office and EMR familiarity / experience.
Fluent spoken and written English required.
Diplomacy, good communication and interpersonal skills.
Multi-cultural flexibility and/or experience.
WORK LOCATION: Al Mowasah Hospital in Marka, Amman
CONTRACT: 6 months fixed term contract (renewable) – Full Time
