STS seeks a Learning Assessment Manager for a USAID Early Grade Education Activity (EGEA) in Jordan. Under the direction of the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), this position provides support to the USAID Early Grade Education Activity (EGEA) in Jordan and will work in collaboration with STS home office staff based in the United States (STS HQ), IREX and other partners. The Learning Assessment Manager, as a key point of contact at the field level, will coordinate between STS home office staff, IREX and other partners to manage the strengthening of local education system actors’ capabilities to enhance/expand diagnostic tools and assessments and support EGEA monitoring, evaluation, assessment, and learning.

The position will be based in Amman and will be supervised by both the STS project manager based in the U.S. and the IREX

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in education, research methods, economics, statistics, political science, public policy, social science, or a related field.

Experience designing and providing ongoing training and development to ministry level officials preferred, prior collaboration with ministry of education officials required.

Experience organizing workshops including convening relevant government stakeholders.

Experience developing both informal reading assessment strategies (e.g., oral questioning, observing students as they work, invented writing) as well as more formal ones (e.g., quizzes, homework, diagnostic tests, national assessments). Prior experience with adapting and administering assessments for early grade students preferred.

Experience on other USAID- or major donor-funded education projects preferred.

Prior experience adapting electronic data collection software preferred.

Significant familiarity with Jordanian education system preferred – including Field Directorate, school-level, and classroom-level dynamics.

Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.  

Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

English and Arabic proficiency and fluency required.

Authorization to work in Jordan required.
