Job Purpose
To support and provide Early Intervention Services to Kindergarten Children in an inclusive setting.
To Ensure that all kindergarten Children are being equipped with a strong foundation to better prepare them for grade-school.
Through the Early Intervention Program, the occupational therapist’s role is to support children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
Additionally, they are to support children in acquiring independence in daily living skills.
Through this program, the occupational therapist will support children in their academic
and social performance, including but not limited to fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, attention, motor planning, eye-hand coordination, emotional regulation
& behavioral management. Moreover, the occupational therapist’s task is to help create
an optimal and inclusive classroom environment to meet the various learning needs of
all children.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To Screen & Assess the children using both informal and formal assessments.
To write reports that encompass goals and progress updates for the identified children.
To create, implement and update intervention plans for the identified children.
To provide direct and inclusive intervention for the identified children.
To document the progress and information about the identified children in a timely and organized
manner.
To collaborate in verbal and written forms with the stakeholders involved with the identified children.
to support the intervention plan; this includes teachers, parents, and out-of-school therapists.
To modify classroom equipment and/or tasks to meet the children’s needs.
To coach and support the teachers in implementing the strategies recommended for the identified
children.
To attend meetings and support in transition plans as the children move on to grade school.
To be an active team player within a multi-disciplinary team (Support program coordinator, speech &
language pathologist, Counseling coordinator & Counselor, kindergarten counselor, support
teachers, and main teachers)
Provide training sessions and or presentations to the school staff and/or parents on occupational.
therapy related topics
Demonstrates ongoing learning by continuously partaking in professional development opportunities.
Job requirements:
Successful completion of a certified high-school degree.
Successful completion of a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s level degree in Occupational Therapy.
Experience working with children in this age group is an asset.
· The ability to conduct formal ‘school based’ occupational therapy assessments & write reports with intervention plans is required.
Familiarity and comfort in assessing and intervening in the areas of occupational therapy pertaining to school aged children is required – this includes areas such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, attention, motor planning, eye-hand coordination, emotional regulation & behavioral
Strong presentation skills to present and train on topics related to occupational therapy.
Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English (verbal & written).
Demonstrates ongoing learning by continuously partaking in professional development opportunities.
Be comfortable working in a school environment in both remote and in person scenarios.
Be organized, a good communicator, and a team player.
Maintains organized working files and updated documentation for the identified children.
Demonstrates proficient knowledge of typical development.
Comfort working collaboratively with related professionals and providers.
Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
