Job Purpose <\/strong> <\/p>\n

The IB MYP English Language teacher is responsible for implementing and teaching the Middle school students according to the International Baccalaureate curriculum, being the learner, motivator and communicator who provides a professional expertise, and high-quality teaching and learning. <\/p>\n

The teacher provides, leads, and facilitates diverse and effective learning experiences using a range of methods in a supportive and positive climate across the school. Delivering a coherent, balanced, integrated, inquiry-based program and preparing students for international programs in a stimulating, challenging and well-organized learning environment, collaborating with other teachers to contribute students\u2019 success.<\/p>\n

Roles & responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n
• Working independently and collaboratively to design and refine curriculum.<\/li>\n
• Planning collaboratively units of inquiry that correlate with the departments\u2019 scope and sequence and the IB requirements and guidelines.<\/li>\n
• Revising the departments overview and scope and sequence.<\/li>\n
• Collaborating with teachers to contribute students\u2019 success.<\/li>\n
• Delivering high quality lessons within the IB framework to meet the individual needs of all students.<\/li>\n
• Using teaching methods, engaging students, and stimulating intellectual curiosity by including the use of effective questioning, presentation, and resources.<\/li>\n
• Creating diverse, challenging and engaging learning experiences for all students.<\/li>\n
• Contributing to the enrichment of learning engagements.<\/li>\n
• Motivating students to perform at their best through differentiated instructions and using varieties of styles.<\/li>\n
• Monitoring students\u2019 performance and progress to enhance their understanding and master skills through effective assessment.<\/li>\n
• Nurturing meaningful relationships with students and providing the individual attention they need.<\/li>\n
• Communicating regularly and constructively with students and parents. <\/li>\n
• Setting high expectations for student\u2019s behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.<\/li>\n
• Teaching related classes, per the full-time teaching load specified by the MOE instructions. <\/li>\n
• Having the ability and willingness for online and\/or in a hybrid context teaching and learning, as necessary <\/li>\n
• Maintaining records of students' work and progress through Learning <\/li>\n
• Working as a member of a team, positively contributing to effective working relations within the school.<\/li>\n
• Communicating, where necessary with parents and external bodies, following school policies.<\/li>\n
• Attending school events, workshops, Student-Led conferences<\/li>\n
• Attending IB authorized training and staying current with all relevant changes to the IB guide<\/li>\n
• Attending weekly department meetings. <\/li>\n
• Carrying out any other duties or responsibilities requested by the principal.<\/li>\n
• Taking on the responsibilities of a Year Coordinator or a Homeroom teacher upon request (if applicable<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Job requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • A Bachelor and\/or master\u2019s degree in English Language & Literature or a relevant field <\/li>\n
  • A teacher\u2019s certificate for teaching English or a teaching certificate is a plus.<\/li>\n
  • IB experience and training is a plus (specifying the total years of experience requested and the training courses needed)<\/li>\n
  • Fluency in the English language.<\/li>\n
  • Computer skills at a level that permits creative use of technology in the classroom during lessons.<\/li>\n
  • Classroom management skills.<\/li>\n
  • Communication & presentation skills<\/li>\n
  • Professionalism, commitment, integrity, strength of character and perseverance.<\/li>\n
  • Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare reports, lesson plans, worksheets, power point presentations.<\/li>\n
  • Planning, organizing, evaluating, and analyzing curricula.<\/li>\n
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with teachers at all levels in a multicultural environment.<\/li>\n
  • Partake in professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n
