In WFP Nepal, the currents Country Strategic Programme (CSP,2019-2023) establishes as strategic outcome that food-insecure people in targeted areas have improved nutrition throughout the key stages of their lives by 2025. The CSP\u2019s Strategic Outcome 2 (SO2) establishes outputs for targeted populations, including: children aged 6-59 months, pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls and school children, receive an integrated package of assistance to prevent and treat malnutrition and improve dietary intake; targeted populations in food-insecure areas receive nutrition-sensitive, shock-responsive and gender-transformative social services delivered through a strengthened national social protection framework; and people benefiting from the national social safety net programme receive post-harvest fortified rice.
WFP Nepal's Country Strategic Plan (CSP 2019-2023) integrates five strategic outcomes (SO), of which SO 2 supports the decentralization of the national social protection framework to realign with the federal system, including the Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) programme and rice fortification. The SO 2 contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) outcome area 2, SDG2.2 and WFP Strategic Results 2. It also takes a life cycle approach to addressing malnutrition, food security, health and hygiene practices including WASH, education, and women's empowerment with focus on pregnant and breastfeeding women and adolescent girls (PBW\/G), children aged 6 \u2014 23 months and school children in regions with high prevalence of food insecurity and\/or malnutrition. These activities are embedded in the National Framework for Social Protection (2011-2021), the Multisector Nutrition Plan II (proposed MSNP III 2023-2030), and the School Sector Development Plan (SSDP 2016-2023).
The Programme Associate (Nutrition) will primarily focus on technical support and assistance in the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of various activities and processes within the specific area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.<\/p>\n

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)<\/h2>\n

Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Officer and the overall supervision of the Head of Nutrition, the Programme Associate (Nutrition) will be expected to perform the following duties:<\/p>\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support CO to plan, implement and monitor integrated nutrition activities:
\u2022 Provide technical support in the development of nutrition projects and activities, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider nutrition policies and guidance.
\u2022 Work closely with other WFP staff at country office, sub-office and provincial levels to update and advise on any government priorities and strategies
\u2022 Provide support on nutrition programming in emergencies, including emergency preparedness actions, contingency planning, risk analysis and early warning related to nutrition risks.
\u2022 Provide project management support to nutrition-related programmes, projects and activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes and projects that complies with WFP standards and procedure.
\u2022 Provide support in program related data\/information gathering and preparation of required reports of related program for different purposes.
\u2022 Carry out other tasks as required, to support the day-to-day activities of WFP CO. <\/p>\n

2. Technical assistance
\u2022 Support implementation of nutrition programme under the WFP Nepal CSP including:
– Nutrition in emergencies programmes under strategic objective 1 of the CSP
– Activity 2 and 4 WFP Nepal CSP.
\u2022 Support in planning and designing nutrition related activities and ensuring various key WFP programmes are nutrition sensitive.
\u2022 Provides technical and operational support to government and cooperating partners during planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning of nutrition programmes with an emphasis to maternal and child nutrition, and nutrition in emergency, as well as inclusion of social and behavior change communication works across the MSNP implementation.
\u2022 Within the specific area of responsibility, advocate and support adequate budgeting for nutrition during annual planning processes.
\u2022 Support in assessing needs and organize\/facilitate nutrition orientation, review workshop, training and refresher courses to help develop the capacity of the Government staff at the provincial, district, Palika and health facility level in coordination with the country office.
\u2022 Within the specific area of responsibility participate as a resource person in training\/orientation and\/or consultative\/advocacy meetings related to nutrition at provincial, district and local level as required.
\u2022 Provie support towards development or adaptation of nutrition related strategies, policies, guidelines and manuals, protocols.
\u2022 Support dissemination of appropriate and timely nutrition information, standard operational protocols and guidelines to the province, municipality, Plaika and health facility levels.
\u2022 Provide support for the implementation of the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition Programme (IMAM), as per the national protocol.
\u2022 Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to prepare for and respond to nutrition needs for example the production and review of training materials.<\/p>\n

3. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
\u2022 Support the preparation of presentations, reports and data analysis on nutrition programmes and policies and highlight trends\/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
\u2022 Support the Nutrition Officer in documenting lessons learnt on implementation and provide technical nutrition guidance to strengthening the WFP nutrition programme.<\/p>\n

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/h2>\n

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. Bachelor\u2019s degree or master\u2019s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or any other related field is desirable
