Job Purpose <\/strong><\/p>\n

The IB MYP Science teacher is responsible for implementing and teaching the Middle School students according to the International Baccalaureate curriculum, being the learner, motivator and communicator who provides a professional expertise, and high-quality teaching and learning.<\/p>\n

The teacher provides, leads and facilitates diverse and effective learning experiences using a range of method in a supportive and positive climate across the school. Delivering a coherent, balanced, integrated, inquiry-based program and preparing students for international programs in a stimulating, challenging and well-organized learning environment, collaborating with other teachers to contribute students\u2019 success.<\/p>\n

Roles & responsibilities <\/strong><\/p>\n

• Be a subject expert<\/li>\n
• Plan authentic units that allow students to actively apply their knowledge and skills towards solving local and global issues.<\/li>\n
• Enable students to exercise choice, develop goals, plan their approach and work independently<\/li>\n
• Designing, preparing and delivering a high-quality curriculum within the IB framework to suit the individual needs of all students<\/li>\n
• Develop a holistic overview, that ensures students build on their prior learning experiences<\/li>\n
• Design, test and supervise laboratory experiments relevant to the current lessons being taught in class<\/li>\n
• Ensure students understand and follow all safety rules for laboratory experiments and are aware of the proper actions to take during accidents and emergencies<\/li>\n
• Assign and evaluate all coursework, submit grades and maintain contact with parents regarding student performance<\/li>\n
• Create course materials such as booklets, handouts and homework assignments<\/li>\n
• Creating appropriate learning experience and extra-curricular activities (field work, learning engagements, etc.)<\/li>\n
• Creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.<\/li>\n
• Motivating students to perform at their best through differentiated instructions and using varieties of styles.<\/li>\n
• Contributing to the enrichment of learning engagements.<\/li>\n
• Monitoring students\u2019 performance to enhance their understanding and master skills.<\/li>\n
• Monitoring students\u2019 progress through effective assessment.<\/li>\n
• Take part in the standardization of all types of assessments within the subject group\u202f <\/li>\n
• Communicating regularly and constructively with students<\/li>\n
• Using teaching methods engaging students, stimulating intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, presentation and resources.<\/li>\n
• Setting high expectations for student\u2019s behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.<\/li>\n
• Collaborate with the well-being department<\/li>\n
• Collaborating with other teachers to contribute students\u2019 success.<\/li>\n
• Teaching related classes, per the full time teaching load specified by the MoE instructions<\/li>\n
• Having the ability and willingness for online and\/or in a hybrid context teaching and learning, as necessary<\/li>\n
• Nurturing meaningful relationships with students and providing the individual attention they need<\/li>\n
• Maintaining records of students' work and progress through learning and to coordinate with the YCs<\/li>\n
• Working as a member of a team, positively contributing to effective working relations within the school<\/li>\n
• Attending school events<\/li>\n
• Taking on the responsibilities of a Year Coordinator or a Homeroom teacher upon request (if applicable)<\/li>\n
• Communicating, where necessary with parents and external bodies, following school policies<\/li>\n
• Proper use of school\u2019s platforms<\/li>\n
• Coordinate with the YCs, area leaders, AlKashef Center and the well-being department<\/li>\n
• Morning duties and during breaks<\/li>\n
• Replacing absent teachers when needed<\/li>\n
• Implement school policies, mission and vision<\/li>\n
• Attending departments regular meetings <\/li>\n
• Attending school workshops and conferences<\/li>\n
• Attending IB authorized training and staying current with all relevant changes to the IB guide<\/li>\n
• Share best practices with team members<\/li>\n
• Share gained knowledge and skills after attending IB workshops and conferences with the team members<\/li>\n
• Carrying out any other duties or responsibilities requested by the principal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Job requirements: <\/strong><\/p>\n

  \n
  • Bachelor and\/or Master degree in relevant subject<\/li>\n
  • IB experience and training is a plus<\/li>\n
  • Computer skills at a level that permits creative use of technology in the classroom<\/li>\n
  • Good communication & Presentation skills and ability to speak in public in confidence.<\/li>\n
  • Demonstrate professionalism, commitment, integrity, strength of character and perseverance<\/li>\n
  • Committed to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning<\/li>\n
  • Able to prepare reports, worksheets and deliver oral presentations<\/li>\n
  • Excellent planning, coordinating, organizing and analyzing abilities are essential<\/li>\n
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with teachers at all levels in a multicultural environment<\/li>\n
  • Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English.<\/li>\n
  • Demonstrates ongoing learning by continuously partaking in professional development opportunities.<\/li>\n
