We are currently seeking to fill an intern position in the WFP Library and Research Centre, based in Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION<\/p>\n<p>The Library and Research Centre is a knowledge acquisition, dissemination &amp; research service for the UN World Food Programme\u2019s 22,000+ staff and is an integral part of WFP\u2019s Knowledge Management team which focuses on promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, learning and continuous improvement of WFP\u2019s work.  <\/p>\n<p>Under the supervision and guidance of the Head of Library and in collaboration with other knowledge management colleagues, the intern will support the day-to-day operations in the Library and Research Centre as well as the broader INK team.<\/p>\n<p>GENERAL INFORMATION<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Title of Post: Internship<\/li>\n<li>Supervisor: Head of Library<\/li>\n<li>Unit: Innovation and Knowledge Management Division (INK)<\/li>\n<li>Country: Italy  <\/li>\n<li>Duty Station: HQ Rome<\/li>\n<li>Duration of internship: 6 months extendable to 8 <\/li>\n<li>Expected Start Date: March 2023<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of the Head of Library, the candidate will perform the following duties:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Disseminate alerts of interesting new publications and articles to subscribed mailing lists<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Update of LRC\u2019s internal web page with newly published publications and contents<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Participate in the digitalization of WFP historical publications<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     User-support: sharing articles obtained through ILL, managing access to reading platforms and the digital lending of publications<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Preparation of research requests, reports, powerpoint presentations, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Support the organization of external group visits (Universities and student groups) to WFP HQ and the organization of events, book talks, panel discussions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Other related duties as required<\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university; <\/li>\n<li>University course attendance in the past 12 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>KNOWLEDGE &amp; SKILLS:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Effective written and verbal communication skills; <\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Digitally savvy;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Highly organized and detail-oriented; <\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Proactive, strategic and able to work independently (including in a remote environment); <\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Ability to multi-task and solve problems in a fast-paced environment; <\/p>\n<p>\u2022     Ability to produce engaging materials to serve a number of different internal and external audiences;<\/p>\n<p>WORKING LANGUAGES<\/p>\n<p>Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency\/level C). Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset. <\/p>\n<p>SUPERVISION (Level\/Methods of Supervision)<\/p>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of the Head of Library, the incumbent will be provided with mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy\/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.<\/p>\n<p>TRAINING COMPONENTS<\/p>\n<p>Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn.
