BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:<\/h3>\n

The Food Security Information Network (FSIN) is a multi-partner initiative co-sponsored by FAO, FEWSNET, IFPRI, IPC, JRC and WFP. The Secretariat is based in the Research, Assessment and Monitoring (RAM) Division, located at WFP Headquarters in Rome, Italy. It is a neutral platform for exchanging expertise, knowledge and best practices, and developing harmonised methods, measurements and analysis.<\/p>\n

The FSIN main activities consist of:<\/p>\n

\n
1. production of global and regional analytical products, including the annual Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) and its by-products and updates with 17 partner organisations;<\/li>\n
2. supporting activities related to data and information gaps; and<\/li>\n
3. facilitating support to regional or national food security information systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

   The FSIN Secretariat uses a consultative and consensus-based approach to facilitate the production of analytical food security publications and to support the strengthening of country and regional capacities for data collection, analysis, and decision-making. This requires sustained identification, compilation, analysis and communication of data.<\/p>\n

   The FSIN Secretariat is seeking a data analyst to identify, manage and support the analysis of food security and nutrition information to support development of FSIN products.<\/p>\n

   ACCOUNTABILITIES\/RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/h4>\n

   In collaboration with the FSIN Secretariat team, the incumbent will:<\/p>\n

   \n
   1. Conduct secondary data review and analysis for FSIN publications;<\/li>\n
   2. Maintain databases of information on acute food insecurity and thematics relevant to FSIN operations and ensure information is up to date, accessible and communicated;<\/li>\n
   3. Support the organization and development of materials for Technical Working Groups, Technical Consultations and other FSIN processes;<\/li>\n
   4. Any other tasks as requested.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:<\/h4>\n

      Main deliverables will include:<\/p>\n

      \n
      1. Data on acute food insecurity and thematics required for FSIN processes is collated, organised and accessible.<\/li>\n
      2. Data bases necessary to support FSIN operations (in particular the GRFC) are populated, maintained, updated and shared with relevant working groups.<\/li>\n
      3. Data is interpreted and the analysis disseminated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:<\/h4>\n

         Education:<\/p>\n

         Advanced University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Social Science, Public Health\/Nutrition, Geography or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and\/or training\/courses.<\/p>\n

         Experience:<\/p>\n

         Previous experience (ideally in an international context) in food security analysis, or a closely related area. Experience researching and collating data from multiple sources and diverse stakeholders an asset. Knowledge of nutrition, climate change, displacement and conflict\/ displacement-related challenges in the context of food crises would be an advantage.<\/p>\n

         Knowledge and Skills:<\/p>\n

         \n
         • Advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including ability to analyze data from multiple sources to create a coherent narrative.
           \u2022 Strong understanding of acute food insecurity measurement and analysis.
           \u2022 Ability to develop tools and databases for the purpose of collecting and managing information from multiple sources.
           \u2022 Ability to work with relevant technology, procedures (e.g., web-based databases, statistical applications) to produce analysis and develop and share quality reports and visualizations.
           \u2022 Strong writing skills;
           \u2022 Proven capacity to work independently and adhere to deadlines;
           \u2022 Ability to work in a team and establish good working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

           Languages:<\/p>\n

           Fluency (spoken and written) in English and one other language (Spanish, French or Arabic) is an advantage.<\/p>\n
