BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: <\/p>\n

In early 2020, more school meals were delivered than ever before, with every second primary school child worldwide, or 388 million children, receiving a daily meal in school. <\/p>\n

The COVID-19 pandemic brought the incredible progress, which led to this unprecedented coverage, to a halt – 1.6 billion children worldwide were affected by school closures and 370 consequently missed out on school meals. This affected rich and poor countries alike and illustrated the great value of schools as platforms for social protection, health, and nutrition interventions, aside their obvious educational benefits. <\/p>\n

In response to the impact of the pandemic and to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive, a group of member states is forming an international School Meals Coalition. The government-led coalition supports governments and their partners to improve or restore national, sustainable school meal programmes, and strive for every child to have the opportunity to receive a healthy, nutritious meal in school by 2030. It aims to do so by pursuing three endeavours:<\/p>\n

\n
• Restore what we had (by 2023): Support all countries to re-establish their school feeding programmes to pre-pandemic levels <\/li>\n
• Reach those that were missed (by 2030): Reach the most vulnerable in low-and-lower-middle income countries that were not reached even prior to the pandemic.<\/li>\n
• Improve the approach (by 2030): Improve the quality and efficiency of existing school meals programmes in all countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  WFP has been supporting the School Meals Coalition from its start and serves as a Secretariat for the coalition. This role includes the management of the website.<\/p>\n

  Since its launch during the Food Systems Summit in September 2021, almost 75 governments and 75 partners have joined the coalition, making it a huge success, which still receives a lot of attention, with new partners and countries joining regularly.<\/p>\n

  The coalition is furthermore very much involved in the organisation of, and participation in, events and aims to do very vocal advocacy around school health and nutrition, and school meals specifically. The website www.schoolmealscoalition.org is the coalition\u2019s main platform to share information, stories, upcoming opportunities and events with the general public and countries and partners interested in joining.<\/p>\n

  ACCOUNTABITLITIES \/ RESPONSIBILITIES: <\/p>\n

  \u2022 Revamp the School Meals Coalition website and update it with the latest branding, information and needs of the coalition.<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Develop, upload, and maintain content on the School Meals Coalition\u2019s website in a timely manner<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Develop custom web pages and microsites for School Meals Coalition campaigns in short-time frames<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Support optimization of design & performance, in line with applicable digital governance standards.<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Ensure relevant documentation and info is accessible to the School Meals Coalition\u2019s partners\/ grantees\/members and the general public.<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Maintain website content management system<\/p>\n

  \u2022 With the support of the IT Solution Architect, maintain web hosting, serving as point person with web hosting and maintenance company<\/p>\n

  \u2022 Strong engagement and cooperation with the company responsible for the design of promotion materials, social media assets, and event planning<\/p>\n
