Principal Responsibilities <\/strong>
Direct Patient Care <\/p>\n

• Direct Patient Care based on Nursing Process: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Assessment & Problem Identification <\/strong><\/p>\n

  \n
  • Obtains & documents a patient assessment which incorporates all available data\/information. <\/li>\n
  • Utilizes techniques of observation, interview, measurement and physical examination in making an assessment. <\/li>\n
  • Assesses family adaptation, coping skills and the need for crisis or other intervention. <\/li>\n
  • Identifies from assessment actual and potential problems in collaboration with patient and senior nursing personnel. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Planning <\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
    • Plans and document a nursing care plan using the nursing process. <\/li>\n
    • Plans priorities of nursing care. <\/li>\n
    • Updates the nursing care plan continually as patient status demands. <\/li>\n
    • Commences discharge planning as soon as it is feasible in co-operation with patient and significant others. Reflects the same in written care plan. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Implementation <\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
      • Delivers care using the nursing process, setting priorities in the delivery of care. <\/li>\n
      • Delegates and supervise nursing care delivered by junior Staff Nurses. <\/li>\n
      • Co-ordinates care delivered by other health professionals. <\/li>\n
      • Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the adult or elderly patient's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights and is culturally competent. <\/li>\n
      • Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift <\/li>\n
      • Provide family-centered care by communicating with the family regarding the changing health care needs of their family member. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Evaluation <\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
        • Evaluates each shift aspect of nursing intervention and document. <\/li>\n
        • Revises care plans if outcomes cannot be met. <\/li>\n
        • Communicates evaluation and subsequent plan to patient\/significant others and healthcare team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          2<\/strong>
          Human Resource Management <\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
          • To participate in the performance appraisal of new Staff Nurses (Peer Review). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            3<\/strong>
            Budgetary Management <\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
            • To inform Nurse Manager\/Head Nurse of malfunctioning equipment. To utilize resources effectively and efficiently. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Quality Improvement <\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
              • To participate in Nursing Quality Assurance programs. <\/li>\n
              • To encourage staff participation in unit-based Nursing Quality Improvement programs. To identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective action. <\/li>\n
              • Adheres to the hospital policies. <\/li>\n
              • Participates in the hospital quality improvement program. <\/li>\n
              • Maintains confidentiality of patients information. <\/li>\n
              • Adheres to the safety protocols of the hospital and ensures safety of the patients. <\/li>\n
              • Guides and supervises the work of nurse associate. <\/li>\n
              • Delegates tasks to the nurse associate and other health care assistants rationally. <\/li>\n
              • Works in accordance with the ISO, NABH and JCIA standards. <\/li>\n
              • Works collaboratively and support efforts of team members. <\/li>\n
              • Handles medico legal cases according to the organization's protocols. <\/li>\n
              • Follows strict infection control protocols and takes responsibility in ensuring quality control related to quality monitors <\/li>\n
              • Provides end of life care according to the culture of people <\/li>\n
              • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interact effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, staff and the broader health care community <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                • To support Hospital's policies and procedures. To attend nursing meetings on a regular basis. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
