REPORTS TO: PHYSICAL EDUCATION HOD
Primary Purpose:
Physical education (PE) teachers organize games and challenges that promote physical activity among children and young adults from kindergarten to high school. Their goal is to develop motor skills and physical development among younger children and proper exercise and eating habits among older children.
Responsibilities: <\/p>\n
Measure student progress to encourage the mastery of school district\/state\/national standards <\/p>\n
Celebrate individual and collective accomplishments by teaching the importance of self-improvement <\/p>\n
Create appealing lessons that implement a variety of methodologies <\/p>\n
Cultivate student awareness and ownership of personal performance <\/p>\n
Design, plan and implement physical education lessons based on school district\/state\/national standards <\/p>\n
Encourage teamwork to set collective and personal development goals <\/p>\n
Ensure accommodations and modifications are made for the growth and development of all students <\/p>\n
Ensure that the physical education environment is clean, safe, and constructive for all students <\/p>\n
Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, rhythms and dance, health education, and individual, dual, and team sports <\/p>\n
Guiding students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior <\/p>\n
Maintaining records of individual student achievement and evaluating students continuously <\/p>\n
Meeting and instructing assigned classes at designated times <\/p>\n
Preparing for classes and maintaining written evidence of preparation <\/p>\n
Upholding and enforcing school rules, school board policies, and administrative regulations <\/p>\n
Working with other members of the physical education staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods

Knowledge of many kinds of exercise <\/p>\n
Excellent understanding of stretching and other safety concerns <\/p>\n
First aid training <\/p>\n

Understanding students' disabilities and adaptive PE techniques where applicable
Qualifications: <\/p>\n
Women teachers are preferred <\/p>\n
PE and Sports experience \u2013 teaching and practical <\/p>\n
PE Degree plus\/including Teaching Degree is preferred <\/p>\n
First aid qualification
