Physics Laboratory Instructor

for the 2022-2023 Academic year
American International University(AIU) seeks an enthusiastic, energetic physicslab instructor. The successful candidate will oversee the establishment of the general physics labs and ensure they are in operational condition. He\/she will apply knowledge of physics and scientific laboratory procedures and techniques in performing a broad range of duties related to the day-to-day operations of physicslaboratories, including the preparation of media, supplies, materials, and equipment maintenance of equipment and facilities storage functions and proper and safe use of equipment and materials.
Primary Function:
To fill this position, we seek a highly motivated and well-trained physics scientist to educate and mentor our students at the general education level. The successful candidate will teach lab sessions in physics-related disciplines in a general education environment, conduct lab preparation and maintenance, and ensure lab safety and compliance. The successful candidate will also display a dedication to inclusive excellence and aculture of diversity in science and higher education.
Responsibilities: <\/p>\n

• Teach lab sessions in physics-related disciplines. <\/li>\n
• Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests or process control. <\/li>\n
• Conduct physical and geological laboratory tests of solid materials, liquids, and gases, and analyzes tests. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • Prepare materials and instrumentations, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures. <\/li>\n
  • Liaise with physics faculty regarding laboratory sessions. <\/li>\n
  • Ensure the accurate inventory of physics equipment and materials. <\/li>\n
  • Ensuresafety and maintenance of physics equipment, materials and laboratory at all times. <\/li>\n
  • Perform technical duties related to the physics laboratories activities. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Provide technical assistance to faculty and students. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Minimum Qualifications: <\/p>\n

      \n
      • Master or Bachelor of Science with a major in physics or related field. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
        • Excellent oral and written English essential spoken Arabic skills highly desirable. <\/li>\n
        • Minimum of 3 years of work experience as a laboratory instructor or technician in a physics lab or in ahigher educational setup. <\/li>\n
        • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • Student-centred, project-based learning and an aptitude to work with post-secondary students. <\/li>\n
          • Committed to innovation in teaching and learning, with a positive can do attitude and willingness to promote life-long learning across AIU. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people. <\/li>\n
