JOB BRIEF
Save the Children Jordan established a Reggio-Emilia influenced preschool – Curio. Curio is founded on warm, loving relationships between students, parents, teachers, and staff members. We provide children with educational activities appropriate for young learners, taking into account their physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs. We realize the importance of providing a nurturing, safe inspiring environment, rich with opportunities to be open and curious. We also aim to provide a supportive and inspirational working environment for all our staff members.
The Deputy Principal is responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the Preschool. The deputy principal’s main focus is to develop and maintain effective educational program with the preschool, while ensuring that the school adheres to Save the Children Jordan (SCJ) Safeguarding regulations and Code of Conduct.

Arabic Teachers, English Teachers, Additional needs specialists, Lead teacher, Secretary, Bookkeeper, KinderCare provider.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership
Develops and maintains a variety of effective decision-making processes that build consensus, commitment, and collaboration.
Oversees and coordinates the kindergarten program daily operations and administration.
Manages and actively participates in marketing activities and special events, including school tours, festivals, open houses, parent meetings and community events…etc.
Fosters and maintains positive and professional relationships with parents, children, staff, management.
Liaises with the superintendent, staff, stakeholders, community partner to develop and maintain current strategic plan.
Manages and mentors all aspects of staff development, team building and a culture of continuous learning in an inclusive learning environment.
Is the chief point of contact for all parent-related matters.
Provides guidance and information to all parties both internally and externally (i.e., parents, teachers, other partners and stakeholders…etc.).
Ensures that all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard the health and general well-being of the staff and the children.
Programming
Supports children/students, parents/guardians and teachers in the provision of meaningful learning opportunities that encourage children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
Collaborates with teachers, parents/guardians, additional needs specialist, and administration to recommend support services (i.e., Speech Language Pathologist, Behavioural Consultant/Psychologist, Pediatrician…etc) to support children with diverse needs.
Reviews curriculum with teachers through meetings and pedagogical narrations.
E nsures the development of lessons with specialized objectives and activities that reflect differentiation for individual student needs.
Supervises the preparation of timetable, class lists and schedules, and supervision schedules.
Manages field trips and events.
Observes and supports classrooms on a regular basis.
Co-ordinates and/or directs the evaluation of student progress and achievement and the provision of regular reports to parents.
Administrative
Ensures all licensing rules and SCJ regulations are followed and maintained.
Participates in the recruitment of staff members.
Holds regular staff meetings for the purpose of discussing educational and administrative matters.
Promotes the professional and academic growth of staff.
Establish procedures for the administration of materials and supplies necessary to support the programs.
Inspects the school grounds and school buildings on a regular basis.
Develops and fosters a sense of pride and respect for school property, and assumes responsibility for the general cleanliness and maintenance of the school.
Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Masters of Education or Bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Up to date medical and immunization record, including Covid-19 immunization.
Professional Experience
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in managing a day care or similar setup and a track record of moving complex initiatives forward.
Significant administrative experience earned in a school environment.
Experience in education programs for preschool children.

Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of child development as well as an aptitude in different learning approaches to early childhood care and education.
Knowledge of educational methodologies and curriculum development.
Strong working knowledge of government licensing regulations.
