Amazon Transportation Services is hiring an experienced, talented, and motivated software development manager to join us in Core Transportation Technologies in Luxembourg.
As Software Development Manager, you have technical ownership of platform components in Core Transportation Tech. You'll lead a talented and nimble team of engineers. Responsibilities include direct management of 6+ engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. He or she will bring a strong sense of ownership, ability to hire and lead a team, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.

Basic qualifications:

A Master degree or above in computer science, engineering or related field is required.
7+ years of programming experience in Java/Ruby/Python/C++, or other object-oriented languages.
Strong computer science and software development fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis.
Experience of driving the architecture, engineering and software design of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications or services.
Experience in big data software systems (Hadoop/Spark/R/Streaming Analytics, etc.).
Experience building and operating highly scalable and available services.

Preferred qualificaitons:

Experience in real-time analytical systems and machine learning.
Experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous product development efforts and initiatives.
Balance technical leadership with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.
Constantly striving for simplicity, and at the same time demonstrate significant creativity, innovation and judgment.
Visionary leader, builder and operator.
