The âOffice of Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (SIEED)â has been established in Fall 2021 in the QU President Office to initiate, manage, execute, and/or coordinate developments of the President Office innovation and transformation cross-strategies and initiatives (e.g. Innovation & Entrepreneurship strategy, Digital Transformation Strategy, etc.) among other strategic innovation and transformation duties and functions. The SIEED Office is also particularly focused on design, management, and execution on the evolution of holistic and mature âQU Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Economic Development Ecosystemâ across all QU sectors and emerging companies and ventures in integrated manner with the National Innovation & Economic Development ecosystem. This particular focus is in the process of realizing QU new vision aiming at positioning Qatar University as a â .. Catalyst for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of Qatarâ and is closely integrating with state transformation efforts into Innovation & Knowledge Based Economy (iKBE) as envisioned in Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategies, and Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) 2030 Strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities
1.Ensures the success of the University's commitment to supporting economic development by facilitating and ensuring maximization of QU technological innovations commercialization through a variety of streams, including but not limited to, technology startups, technology licensing, technology consulting, etc.
2.Lead the design and implementation of innovative QU Technology Commercialization projects and initiatives in strong collaboration with office team, and internal and external stakeholders
3.Work on building strategic collaboration relationships with key national and international support entities for technology innovations commercialization
4.Lead the efforts of raising funds from VCs, Angel Investors, industry, and other funding sources and investment entities for support of commercialization of QU technology outputs
5.Lead the efforts and activities of commercialization analysis and technology advancement for market readiness
6.Research trends, opportunities, innovative and niche areas of technological innovations commercialization areas and conduct necessary mapping and road mapping for QU and national ecosystem
7.Assist in development and delivery of relevant curricular components and digital learning modules for integration in QU education ecosystem
8.Supervise or co-supervise graduate theses conducting research on technological innovations commercialization
9.Assist in developing relevant research proposals relevant to technological innovation commercialization, and economic development ecosystem acceleration internally in QU or externally on the national ecosystem
10.Develop reports, research papers and presentations in relevant to areas of scope of duties
11.Lead or help in organization of relevant national and international events in collaboration with other office members and key stakeholders internally and externally
12.Any other duties as assigned by direct line manager.
