Job Summary
The SP&A Team provides a full range of traffic and transportation planning services and is a key component in the Civil Infrastructure Business Line. Our Vision is to be the most recognized and trusted provider of transportation planning services to our clients in the Middle East. We envisage being the Middle East Centre of Excellence in all aspects of transport planning, but particularly in multi-modal transport master planning and transport modelling. This position is responsible for providing technical support in a variety of these service offerings, including Multi-Modal Transport Modelling, Transport Master Planning, Traffic Engineering and Traffic Impact Assessments. The candidate is expected to take on increasingly more complex transport planning tasks and to work with minimum supervision when carrying out tasks.
Technical Support
- Contribute to successful project completion by providing technical services in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives as agreed with the Project Manager
- Maintain, enhance and apply both transport modelling and planning knowledge
- Continuously improve technical and industry knowledge by participating in forums and other industry related programs
- Research, analyse and report on a range of quantitative and qualitative transport modelling and planning related projects
- Assist in the preparation of tender submissions
- Act as a Deputy Project Manager, as necessary
- Develop detailed methodologies together with task leaders
- Provide input to technical note and study report
- Undertake data recording and analysis tasks
- Undertake modelling and analysis tasks
- Review internal processes for effectiveness and efficiency and suggest possible areas for improvement where necessary
Minimum Requirements
- Transport Planning or traffic engineering modules or experience would be an advantage
- Ability to demonstrate a good technical understanding of Transport Planning
- Demonstrable interest in Transport Planning and developing a career in this industry
- Membership of a professional institution or society such as CIHT, ICE or T
- Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedback
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
- Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
- Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography
- A Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography or Transport Planning would be an advantage
