Manager – Engagement and Communications
Job Description
College/Department Profile
The Manager – Engagement and Communications is responsible to assist the QU Medical and Health Sciences leadership in the development and implementation of communications and public affairs, outreach and engagement activities. The Manager – Engagement and Communications is also responsible to ensure the effective application of University policies and procedures relating to Communications and Public Affairs, and Outreach and Engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the QU Medical and Health Sciences leadership to understand the Communications and Public Affairs, and Outreach and Engagement strategic requirements.
- Coordinate with the Communications and Public Affairs, and Outreach and Engagement Departments for the efficient and effective delivery of services for the QU Medical and Health Sciences Sector and to ensure the timely resolution of issues in line with QU's strategy ,policies and procedures.
- Support the QU Medical and Health Sciences leadership to identify and execute communication, event and advertising plans and lead coordination with the Communications and Public Affairs Department to develop the annual communication plan for the colleges.
- Coordinate with the Outreach and Engagement Department to develop an annual outreach and engagement plan for the QU Medical and Health Sciences Sector.
- Support the QU Medical and Health Sciences leadership to draft internal and external communications, publications, brochures and marketing collateral by collaborating with the Medical and Health Sciences faculty and staff and the Communication and Public Affairs Department and ensure digital and print products are of a high standard aligned to QU's policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Coordinate with Communications and Public Affairs as necessary to ensure that the QU Medical and Health Sciences Sector marketing and communications materials are translated in line with QU policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the relevant departments in arranging visits and tours for QU Medical and Health Sciences guests.
- Provide advice to QU Medical and Health Sciences faculty and staff in regards to planning and executing events and marketing campaigns and help lead the execution of events and marketing in collaboration with the Communications and Public Affairs Department.
- Provide advice and practical support to QU Medical and Health Sciences faculty and staff on maintaining and leveraging relationships with stakeholders.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate Sector engagement and communications records and data and ensure that central and local data are aligned, up to date and accurate in line with QU policies and procedures to enable effective reporting and analysis of academic performance.
- Assign and manage the cluster web content editors found in different departments and request the needed access and training from the Communications and Public Affairs department approve the content added by the colleges web content editors, in line with QU website guidelines and policies and oversee the college social media accounts.
- Maintain confidentiality of information at all times
- Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates as appropriate according to scheduled plans and recommend actions as per applied Medical and Health Sciences Sector policies.
- Identify staff training needs and plan for appropriate training to be provided in a timely manner.
- Perform other tasks and duties that may be occasionally required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.
