The Peace and Governance / Inclusive Security and Resilient Youth (ISRY)/ Component Three team
Inclusive Security and Resilient Youth (ISRY) Mercy Corps and Axiom International will implement a 24 months
program, a community-based development program supporting at-risk youth in Jordan between the ages of 15
to 30. ISRY will adopt a positive youth development approach to psychosocial support interventions with the aim
of promoting learning; increasing stability through co-existence and inclusive security; and building the
psychosocial resiliency of youth and their families. Mercy Corps, in close coordination with Axiom, will create
connections between youth and Public Security actors through engagement in nature-based activities and
community-based activities. The program will identify three local community-based partners in the north, center
and south of Jordan to establish Community Action Hubs that provide youth with a safe space to improve social
stability and ultimately make youth and their communities more resilient. Additionally, the program will seek to
strengthen the community-based organizations’ institutional capacities to sustain long-term impact The project
will place additional focus on the national level to strengthen the role of women and youth representation in the
Youth Peace and Security (YPS) UN Security Council Resolution 2250 – National Coalition in Jordan, through close
collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and other stakeholders.
The Position: Youth Peace and Security Assistant
The Youth Peace and Security Assistant is a vast support to Mercy Corps Inclusive Security and Resilient Youth
Project. HeShe will assist the YPS team in developing, implementing, and following up on all the activities that
fall under Component 3 (Improved National Level Participation of Youth and Women in Peace and Security).
The YPS assistant is expected to spend time on Coordination and data management tasks along with the YPS
team, YPS national actors, the YPS UNCSR 2250 coalition members and Ministry of Youth (MoY) team. HeShe
will report to the YPS Team Leader and closely work with the Senior Project Manager and YPS Coordinator at
MC. Provide operational support in relation to the other components in the project to support the
implementation of the youth program.

Essential Responsibilities
General Roles:

1. Support the YPS Team in the development, follow up and implementation of the ISRYP Component 3
activities.
2. Assist in the managing and sustaining the ISRYP-Component three national working groups and
governance bodies, this includes all the tasks that aim to building the ownership, Coordination
mechanisms, and promoting the YPS objectives.
3. Assist in maintaining the best practices at the internal and external meetings specifically with the YPS
actors in terms of minutes, attendance sheets, verifying the meeting requirements, and maintain the
proper documentation guidelines with any internal and external photographer/videographer, and keep
the supporting documents updated, reviewed, and archived on a weekly basis.
4. Assist in interpreting the project materials and documents between both languages (Arabic and English).
5. Support in the reporting tasks for the donor, internally and for the GoJ.
6. Support in monitoring and evaluation activities, and other M&E project activities in coordination with
other team members.
7. Contribute to MC data management policies and assist in Archiving and updating all related documents
to the Youth, Peace, and Security component by adherence to the MC minimum standard guidelines.
8. Support in the Preparation and coordination of meetings, events, workshops, and consultations across
Jordan.
9. Commit to submitting Arabic and English MoMs while attending the coordination meetings with the
team in the Ministry of Youth (MoY) and with other actors regarding YPS UNSCR 2250-related activities,
with the support of the team.
10. Assist in reviewing, desk research, and collecting data across the project activities, not limited to youth
consultation methodology, consultations, project evaluation and other data collection activities.
11. Support in presentation design utilizing Prezi, Microsoft PowerPoint, Miro, and any other professional
platform.
12. Coordinate closely with the YPS team in any communication and coordination with the Ministry of
Youth-MoY regarding YPS UNSCR 2250 related activities.
13. Provide support for organizing visits, meetings, events, training, and workshops.
14. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy
Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian and development mission and adhere to all MC protection
and safeguarding policies.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Organizational Learning and Development:
As part of our commitment to organizational learning and in support of our understanding that learning

members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit Mercy Corps as well as themselves.
Accountability to Beneficiaries: Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts towards
accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and
development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring,
and evaluation of our field projects.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory role
Accountability Project Users
Reports Directly To: Youth, Peace, and Security Team leader.
Works Directly with: YPS Team, Project technical leads, MEL Unit, Training and capacity building unit, ISRYP
Consultancy roles, Governance groups formed at ISRYP-Comp3 Specifically.
Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our
program participants, community partners, and other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding
international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal
partners in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of our field projects.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
1. College degree in Political Science, Development, Conflict Management, Social Work, or related field.
2. At least 1 year of related experience in the development, peace or/and humanitarian sector.
3. Preferably an experience in youth development programs and working in community engagement
projects.
4. Good knowledge of Youth, Women, Peace and Security UN Security Council resolutions and Agenda of
implementation.
5. Strong verbal and written communications skills, Excellent writing skills in English and Arabic languages.
6. Excellent analytical and reporting skills
7. Deep commitment to development and humanitarian principles and values.
8. Research and Learning skills, and the ability to commit to learning and development plans.
9. Excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
10. Demonstrated organizational skills.
11. Politically and culturally aware, sensitive toward security issues.
12. Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
Success Factors
Understanding the context of Jordanian youth needs, challenges, and opportunities, and practicing the
principles of youth meaningful engagement. In addition to acquire the Knowledge and adherence to the official
protocols and professional values to work with diverse groups of community members, CSOs, youth, private
sector, and governments.
The Ability to work under supervision in addition to the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
will be highly considered.

The position is based in Amman, Jordan and it requires up to 30% travel to support country programs, Staff will
