Food Security & Livelihood Assistant

Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization working in more than 40 countries in the fields of nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water sanitation and hygiene, and care practices. ACF is looking for its program in Jordan for Food Security & Livelihood Project Assistant

Workplace: Irbid, with frequent field movement to Mafraq, Zarqa and Jaresh and other Action Against Hunger offices in the country

Position Overview: To carry out Mapping, outreach and to conduct Technical and Vulnerability assessment of “Enhancing Self-Reliance of Vulnerable Refugees and Host Communities through Integrated Livelihoods and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support” project within the assigned Areas to identify potential beneficiaries, develop HH care-plan and follow up and to assist the FSL SRO on delivering of Cash Assistance, accomplishment of TVET and soft Skills training, accomplishment of Small Grant distribution and business development to Micro- business, Homebased business and Self-employment.

Responsibilities:

1) Conduct needs and technical assessment, data collection and monitoring of project beneficiaries under the guidance and coordination of the FSL Senior Officer.

– Mapping, outreach and identification of potential beneficiaries within the assigned areas.

– Conduct vulnerability needs & technical assessments for the project beneficiaries.

– Ensure coherence of collected information

– Responsible for archiving of the beneficiary lists and supporting documents as per Action Against Hunger standards and policies

– Support the identification and selection process of project Cash Assistance beneficiaries in the areas of intervention.

– Oversee the Cash assistance distribution according to ACF SOPs and best practices.

– Support the FSL SRO in Identification and mapping process of potential MSMEs, Public Institution Vocational training institution to deliver, CFW, OJT and VT to project beneficiaries.

– Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information at all times

– Ensure appropriate HH care plan and recommendations developed.

– Ensure that the beneficiaries are informed about application / registration procedures, assistance status and any other information needed.

2) Support in the delivery of the project training and activities and make sure they are aligned with ACF SOPs and donor requirements:

– Support the FSL SRO in the facilitation and delivery of the project training (OHS,LSE, Labor right, financial literacy, business skills training)

– Ensure the collection of Attendance Sheets and other Mean of Verification for each training session

– Support FSL SRO in the organization of the training (training venues, refreshments, training materials, etc.)

– Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Department for monitoring visits

– Carry out regular visits to monitor and follow up on the implementation of the project activities as per the defined schedule with the support of the FSL Senior Officer.

3) Provide regular capacity building and coaching for beneficiary households

– Support project beneficiary households in developing their livelihoods plans

– Provide regular and ad hoc one-on-one and group coaching visits and support to project beneficiaries in implementing their proposed livelihoods activities

– Build awareness on key health and social issues, e.g., education and school drop-out, child labour, gender-sensitive practices within the household, safe drinking water, balanced diet, hygienic practices, etc.

– Support households in the development of social networks

– Guide participants through challenges, either related to the project or communities and their families.

– Mentor participants, boost confidence, and encourage positive world views and coping mechanisms.

– Identify follow-up support needed and connect households to external services through service mapping and referrals where possible.

4) Communicate the organization’s activities and objectives to the partners and Assistance distribution and follow-up:

– Explain the project’s activities and objectives to the partners and the population.

– Represent the Organization in meetings with the beneficiaries.

– Assistance at projects distribution events as planned and requested by FSL Senior Officer.

– Follow-up and monitoring of the projects impact.

– Report on participants' progress through individual meetings to ensure that they are on track to meet Graduation outcomes.

– Coordinate with the broader technical unit in Jordan mission to share best practices and lessons learned

5) Ensure adherence to Action against Hunger gender requirements

– Commit and comply with the organization gender, age and diversity principles & policies (working with people, communication)

– Support on the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles through daily activities and or through the management of their teams (Managing performance & development)

– Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information at all times

– Perform other job-related tasks as requested by the supervisor

Skills

  • Being flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
  • Proven knowledge of computerized systems (Microsoft office)
  • Capacity to adapt communication based on targeted audience.
  • Experience in using Kobo/ODK data collection application is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the use of an Android tablet (Experience in utilizing technology tools and possess the ability to master new technology tools, as required.)

Education: Bachelor's degree in the field of Business Administration, Economics, Social Studies or any other related fields

Professional experience:

  • 2 years of previous experience in humanitarian INGO /NGOs.
  • 1 year of previous experience Basic Need or Livelihoods program.
  • Previous experience in conducting assessment.
  • Previous experience facilitating awareness and learning session for local communities and Refugees.
  • Knowledge or experience in PSS is preferred.
  • Fresh graduate is encouraged to apply.

Language level: Excellent written and spoken skills in Arabic and English language is plus.
