Job Purpose
Working under the guidance of the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping unit, the selected candidate will primarily focus on developing and implementing comprehensive VAM systems for the food assistance programmes implemented by WFP in Cox's Bazar, including the refugee emergency response and host community livelihood programme. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous, timely and efficient data collection, field monitoring for regular assessments and support monitoring of the food security situation and market context. The incumbent will support all other business operations from VAM to contribute to ensuring the establishment of a robust evidence-based platform and collection of the necessary information in delivering WFP’s programmes to the targeted population.
WFP Cox’s Bazar is looking for Bangladeshi Nationals to fill the function of Business Support Assistant for 12 months with the possibility of an extension. The position will be based in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Head of RAM, and the immediate supervision of the VAM team leader in Cox’s Bazar, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Conduct physical and remote surveys for different assessments to collect qualitative and quantitative data and carry out data entry under the supervision of the VAM team leader.
- Assist in preparing detailed field plans, qualitative and quantitative reports, including recommended follow-up actions to ensure program goals are achieved, on a timely basis.
- Submit timely and clean data to the VAM team leader for analysis, using the templates provided.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports on data collection tracker to document the progress of the activity.
- Support broader WFP efforts on food security and food price monitoring.
- Support the team to train the enumerators on the different tools under guidance from VAM Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka office.
- Daily review various survey results for conducting quality control checks; provide weekly feedback on the number and quality of surveys received.
- Effectively manage WFP’s beneficiary database.
- Support onsite process and/or beneficiary monitoring, and post distribution monitoring.
- Work closely with Fleet, Admin and Finance FLA unit for the timely signing of FLAs and creation of Pos.
- Support overall WINGS system and facilitate the grant-making process on time, such as raising PR/PO, and closure of POs.
- Manage digital records of the team’s documentation and equipment inventory.
- Perform any other tasks required in the context of the overall WFP operations in Cox’s Bazar and other parts of the Country.
Standard Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Science, Humanities, or any relevant subject.
Experience:
- Four years of relevant work experience in food security and market assessments.
Language:
- Proficiency in written and oral/communications skills in both English and Bangla.
- Fluency in the oral Chittagonian/Rohingyan dialect is desirable.
Desired Experiences for Entry Into The Role
Experience:
- High organizational skills.
- Experience in WFP related surveys and/or WFP food security/market assessments will be considered an advantage as well as knowledge and familiarity with Cox’s Bazar context.
Software Skill:
- Strong computer skills (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Basic accountancy capacity (a. ability to read and revise a project budget. capacity to check financial supporting documents (standard procurement)
- Appetite for exploring and experimenting with new ideas and approaches.
- Ability to work as part of a team, participating in open dialogues and valuing diverse opinions of others, regardless of gender, culture, background, experience, or country assignment.
Capabilities:
- Courtesy, tact, and ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to handle a large volume of work quickly and accurately under time constraints.
