ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP is supporting the National School Feeding Programme by providing daily school meals to around 500,000 students through two different modalities: The healthy school feeding model (HSFM) and the date bars model. The HSFM model consists of providing healthy nutritious meals prepared at healthy productive kitchens located across 6 governorates to students from KG to sixth grade in selected schools in the host community, while for the date bars model, WFP provides 80 grams of fortified biscuits for around 30,000 school-aged children in both Syrian Refugee Camps in Jordan (Zaatari & Azraq), as well as support the Ministry of education biscuits programme by providing date bars to around 380,000 school-aged children attending schools in the host community.

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this appointment is to ensure high-level coordination with the Country Office School Feeding Programme Unit and align goals and resources with the Field Office priorities, lead on the programmer’s delivery and monitoring in refugee camps and host communities.

This position is based in WFP Amman field office, with regular travels to Azraq & Zaatari camps in addition to other governorates as work requires.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes related to School Feeding, supporting alignment with wider WFP programme policies and guidelines.
2. Provide specialized project management support to the School Feeding programme to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets and in compliance with WFP’s policies and procedures.
3. Prepare a range of reports and data analyses to support the programme targeting, resource utilization, programme status, performance and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
4. Ensure and/or perform the accurate, timely recording of data related to School Feeding activity as well as ensure consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
5. Liaise with internal and external counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
6. Support the capacity building of the staff from WFP , cooperating partners, and national government counterparts under the School Feeding programme.
7. Act as a point of contact for the resolution of a range of operational queries and problems that may arise within the area of responsibility.
8. Constructive coordination with programme and support functions within WFP Country Office.
9. Proper management & utilization of the School Feeding team capacities at the field office.
10. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis (if needed).
11. Develop and implement a plan for staff learning and development in the technical area of responsibility.
12. Other tasks as requested by Supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in one or more of the following disciplines: International Affairs, Social Protection, Social Sciences, Nutrition, or Project Management. University degree is desirable.

Experience: At least six years of progressively responsible work experience in school feeding or education-related programme operations, nutrition, emergency response, etc., including at least two years in refugee camps context. Working experience in programme monitoring, programme reporting, and capacity building will be an added advantage.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English.

WFP is following the UN salary scale in Jordan; the expected net pensionable salary ranges between 20,280 and 25,920 JOD per year; depending on the years of experience exceeding the minimum requirements.
