Job Title: Data Management Assistant
Program: Jordan Water Governance Activity (WGA)
Reporting to: GIS and Data Systems Sr. Manager
Location: Amman office
Duration: One year (extendable as needed throughout project life)
BACKGROUND
The Water Governance Activity (WGA) program is a multi-year project funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GoJ) to achieve measurable improvements and greater sustainability of the water sector by providing technical assistance to strengthen the GoJ’s reform, policy development and implementation, and capacity-building efforts. WGA will support the following objectives: support the GoJ to define and resolve water sector strategy and policy issues; improve water entities’ performance by reducing network losses, increasing conveyance efficiencies, and improving utility cost recovery; and specific, cross-cutting objectives related to support to gender, youth, persons with disabilities (PWD), and private sector engagement.
JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Data Management Assistant will work under the guidance of GIS and Data System Senior Manager to design, implement, and maintain data management systems and processes. This role requires knowledge of data architecture, database design, and hardware sizing. The Data Management Assistant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and security.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Assist GIS and Data System Senior Manager in designing, implementing, and maintaining data management systems and processes, through testing and evaluating the situation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy, completeness and consistency across all systems and platforms.
- Learn and assist in developing data policies and procedures.
- Learn and assist in developing GIS SOPs.
- Learn and assist in developing data dictionaries, data models, and data flow diagrams.
- Learn and assist in performing data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Learn and assist in developing and implementing data quality standards and data cleansing procedures.
- Assist in ensuring data security and privacy through the implementation of appropriate controls.
- Participate in regular data audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide support to end-users on data management best practices.
- Determining hardware requirements and assessing system utilization.
- System Installation and configurations.
- Performs other tasks as appropriate and as determined by the GIS and Data Systems Sr. Manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of data architecture and database design.
- Have previous experience working on a project funded by USAID.
- Basic understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security.
- Familiarity with data integration tools and technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, (HW, SW).
- Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint.
- Experience with Hardware setup and configurations.
- Proficient in using USAID documentation templates.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficient in working with the ODK toolkit.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools, excel, MS Power BI …
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 1+ years of experience in IT data management or related field.
