Overall mission statement
The IT security senior officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining security products, platforms and solutions designed to mitigate IT risks across the company to ensure that information assets are adequately protected. They are responsible for the identification, evaluation and reporting of information security risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements, aligning with and supporting the risk posture of the enterprise.
They will proactively work with InfoSec and business units to implement practices that meet defined policies and standards for information security. The Senior Security Officer protects assigned premises, assets and personnel, maintains a presence at all times to detect potential threats and prevent any illegal activity and security issues.
Functional responsibilities include
- Implement, monitor, and upgrade computer anti-virus and malware protection systems.
- Encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information during transmit.
- Implement password authentication to keep unauthorized users from accessing sensitive data files.
- Modify security files to incorporate new software, correct errors, and change user access status.
- Designing and implementing security networks and protocols.
- Inspecting and upgrading hardware to avoid vulnerability points.
- Upgrading security software on company systems.
- Inspecting and testing the security of the network.
- Responding to security threats.
- Assist with project efforts to design and implement security controls and processes that solve business problems.
- Supports the implementation and enforcement of secure design principles according to policies, standards, and patterns of Information Security.
- Monitoring log files from routers and servers.
- Assist in coordinate any security investigations and execute preventative measures.
- Perform Computer Forensics method as relevant factor in incident inspection.
- Monitoring physical security of IT premises and server room.
- Provides security-related input to strategic and tactical planning, budget preparation, initiatives and project planning and other management activities as planned.
Skills
Education and experience :
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- 3 -5 years experience in IT Security field.
- Extensive knowledge of hardware and networking systems.
- Excellent knowledge of information technology systems and IT & information security, both theory and practice.
- Experience with implementing and maintaining detection systems, firewalls, and prevention systems.
- Knowledge of cryptographic and key infrastructure protocols.
- Team player, high degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.
- Strong skills in monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Experience in handling security incidents/intrusions.
