The Jordan Water Efficiency and Conservation Activity (WEC) funded by USAID/Jordan and implemented by Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for qualified candidates to fill various positions. The purpose of the WEC Activity is to increase water use efficiency and conservation in Jordan by applying commercial incentives to the agriculture, industrial, and the municipal sectors and strengthening the Government of Jordan (GOJ) governance over irrigated agriculture.

Partnerships Specialist – Agricultural sector
The Partnerships Specialist/Agriculture will work with the key irrigation market actors to facilitate the creation of sustainable and effective partnerships in the supply for water efficiency and conservation technologies/techniques. Under the supervision of the Strategic Partnerships Lead, the focus of this role is to support establishment of lasting commercial partnerships that result in increased demand and dissemination of water conservation technologies and practices to Jordan’s irrigated agricultural sector. Specifically, the Partnerships Specialist – Agriculture will:
- Identify and assess potential partners to build effective commercial relationships which increase the supply of Water Saving Technologies ( WSTs) in the irrigated agriculture sector.
- Work with suppliers of water conservation technologies, related service providers and farmers to create on going mutually beneficial commercial partnerships.
- Identify and work with other relevant actors in the supply chain whose inclusion will support enhanced delivery of WST solutions. This may include providers of financial services and any other relevant service which facilitates an increased supply of WSTs.
- Promote commercial models that demonstrate the financial benefits to farmers for adopting specific water conservation technologies. Support the suppliers to use this information to build demand for their products.
- Engage with and support the suppliers of irrigation WSTs to adopt a more customer focused approach to build commercial relationships with their agricultural clients
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and relationship building skills, including ability to work in partnership with private service providers, irrigation companies and government institutions as appropriate
- Ability to negotiate, advise and support conclusion of commercial partnerships
- Ability to communicate effectively with persons and organizations on all levels relevant to the water sector.
- Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner in both English and Arabic
- Ability to travel within Jordan as needed
- Team player and able to work independently.
Minimum qualification requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, water management or relevant technical area.
- At least three years of experience working with the private sector to develop public-private partnerships, leverage resources, and promote private-sector driven growth. Without a Bachelor’s Degree, 8 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Experience providing advisory, mentoring, and capacity building services to farmers to promote the adoption of water saving technologies
- Familiarity with agriculture and irrigation water issues in Jordan
