About Sawt
Sawt is a five-year (2022-2027) cooperative agreement funded by USAID and implemented by Internews in partnership with Mercy Corps and the International Center for Non-Profit Law (ICNL). Sawt aims to foster sustained civic engagement in Jordan through civil society and digital media innovations through two Objectives: 1) Good, Trusted Knowledge-Building Resources: Citizens and civil society build knowledge through accessing and engaging critically with accurate and fact-based information and 2) Participation & Advocacy: Citizens and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Jordan effectively participate in civic spaces and advocate for policies through knowledge-based collective action. The ultimate goal of Sawt activities is more government responsiveness to the citizens of Jordan.

About Digital First
Internews intends to appoint a curriculum development consultant to USAID’s Strengthening Civil Society and Media Systems Activity (Sawt). The "Digital First" curriculum will empower media outlets with the capacity for creating and managing digital content, understanding audience analytics and engagement, social media management, and digital security and resilience, and improving media outlets with the capacity for digitalization.
The Consultant will develop, adapt, and localize the digital-first curriculum for digital media outlets according to the guidance and under the supervision of the Sawt Media Team. to encourage digital media innovation and evaluate solutions against real-world restrictions and improve and create new solutions so media may stay engaged publics nationally and earn their trust. The Consultant will also develop and adapt the Internews Listening Post module "How Journalists Can Guide Community Communication?" as well as the Internews Fact-Checking and Rumors Tracking Methodologies.
The Consultant is expected to attend meetings with and receive feedback from the Sawt Media Team as needed.
Arabic-English proficiency is a must.
Scope of work
In collaboration with Internews, the Consultant will:
- Develop, localize, and adapt the digital business model.
- Develop, localize, and adapt Internews listening post (LP).
- Develop, localize, and adapt Internews fact-checking and rumor-tracking methodologies.
- Develop, localize, and adapt Internews digital security module for media outlets.
- Expert may be required to undertake other duties broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
The duration of the consultancy is three (3) months.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in digital marketing.
- Demonstrated experience in the Jordanian media scene, the media landscape, and the media industry in general.
- Demonstrated experience in developing curricula and training materials; in-depth understanding of how to incorporate interactive-based learning strategies into course plans and training materials.
- Knowledge and field-level experience in working with media outlets are preferred.
- Languages: fluency in Arabic and working proficiency in English are required.
