About Sawt
Sawt is a five-year (2022-2027) cooperative agreement funded by USAID and implemented by Internews in partnership with Mercy Corps and the International Center for Non-Profit Law (ICNL). Sawt aims to foster sustained civic engagement in Jordan through civil society and digital media innovations through two Objectives: 1) Good, Trusted Knowledge-Building Resources: Citizens and civil society build knowledge through accessing and engaging critically with accurate and fact-based information and 2) Participation & Advocacy: Citizens and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Jordan effectively participate in civic spaces and advocate for policies through knowledge-based collective action. The ultimate goal of Sawt activities is more government responsiveness to the citizens of Jordan.

About Sawt Media Literacy
Internews intends to appoint a curriculum development consultant to USAID’s Strengthening Civil Society and Media Systems Activity Sawt. The "Media Literacy" curriculum will increase community access to fact-based and trusted information, citizens critically engage with information, reject false and harmful information, and seek out high-quality, accurate information.
The Consultant will develop, adapt, and localize the Media Literacy curriculum for civil society according to the guidance and under the supervision of the Sawt Media Team. The Consultant will also develop and adapt a critical thinking module, Internews Media lLteracy module, and fact-checking tools.
The Consultant is expected to attend meetings with and receive feedback from the Sawt Media Team as needed.
Arabic-English proficiency is a must.
The duration of the consultancy is three (3) months.
Scope of work
In collaboration with Internews, the Consultant will:
- Develop, localize, and adapt the critical thinking module.
- Create, localize, and adapt an Internews Media Literacy module.
- Develop, localize, and adapt Internews digital security module for CSOs.
- Consultant may be required to undertake other duties broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
- Developing a handbook for CSOs, youth, and media.
Required qualifications and experience
- Experience in Media Literacy.
- Demonstrated experience in media and the media landscape in Jordan.
- Experience in developing curricula, and expert knowledge of the use of interactive methods in developing curricula and training materials.
- Knowledge and field-level experience in working with media outlets are preferred.
- Languages: fluency in Arabic and working proficiency in English is required.
