Social Mobilization Officer
Section A: Background
JoWomenomics envisions a just world, providing equitable opportunities and an enabling environment for women to partake in its economic and social development. JoWomenomics values women's work within the private and public sphere, encourages mindset change towards women's economic participation, advances women's agency and leadership, and influences policies and policymakers.
Section B: Project overview
JoWomenomics, with prime contractor EnCompass LLC, are supporting (USAID) Makanati – Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity in Jordan. The purpose of Makanati is to contribute to increasing women’s access to waged employment and leadership opportunities in Jordan by improving women’s access to the job market, addressing inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions, and enhancing the workforce enabling environment.
JoWomenomics will support Makanati achieve these goals through working with the communities’ stakeholders, institutions, and individuals to change mindsets and attitudes around women’s employment. JoWomenomics will engage local government champions and private sector firms to improve the enabling environment around women’s employability in the community to complement Makanati’s strategic activities at the government, private sector, gender, and communications component levels.

Section D: Scope of work
- Collect and analyze information to map numbers, locations, and other data within the target community.
- Identify communities with particular needs where project activities should be prioritized in keeping with the programme implementation strategy.
- Assist the work plan for all community mobilization activities.
- Work closely with the Community Specialist to liaise with local authorities, civil society organizations, and private business partners to ensure programme related activities are implemented in coherent and coordinated manner.
- Develop and maintain strong community relationships and networks between the beneficiaries and the service providers.
- Continuously encourage and stimulate community champions for determining their own problems with finding community-based solutions and initiatives.
- Support all reporting concerning their work (Daily reports, weekly reports, quarterly reports) in an accurate, organized, and comprehensive manner according to reporting protocol.
- Represent project partners in a professional and respectful manner to all community members and relevant coordination meetings.
Section E: Requirements and skills
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Social Sciences other relevant areas.
- At least two years proven and successful track record in community mobilization within local community activities/USAID initiatives.
- Experience in writing reports and analytical documents is desirable.
- Strong experience in working with local/government authorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and cooperate with beneficiaries, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

- Proactive, constructive, and dynamic personality.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel to the field on a daily basis as requested.
Section F: Languages
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic.
