JOB PURPOSE
The International Office at University of East London is looking for a Student Recruitment Officer for Middle East, North Africa. The primary role of the Recruitment Officer will be supporting the Recruitment Manager through contributing to the formulation and implementation of strategies, relationships and plans, to attract international applications and enrolments for all University of East London's programs. We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven and flexible candidate with recent experience of working in student recruitment. The post will require extensive travel, including weekends and out of office hours, as and when required and for which flexible working and time in lieu is offered as compensatory. This role will play an important role in driving leads/enquiry & conversion activities through agencies & other channels and delivering support services in conjunction with the business teams to support conversion from enquiry to enrolment.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will involve:
- Assist the Regional Manager to develop a marketing and recruitment strategy for each recruitment cycle.
- Assist in the development of the annual recruitment events calendar and assist in event arrangements including booking venues/booths, webinars, arranging speakers and invitations.
- Arrange appointments for academics and University of East London's staff, arranging marketing collateral for events.
- Build strong working relationships with official agency network, via office visits, telephone and email communication. Conduct regular visits to approved agent offices in across the region to interview prospective students and engage with agency staff.
- Attend and coordinate student recruitment activities throughout the region, including education fairs and school visits, providing prospective students and other stakeholders with relevant and accurate advice regarding University of East London's programs.
- Pre-assess applications and provide recommendations regarding the issuance of an admission offer using the templates and systems provided by the University, following the guidelines and procedures.
- Conduct background and financial checks of prospective students, on behalf of the University, to ensure that they meet the requirements of UKVI.
- Provide a monthly activity report of activities undertaken daily and of relevant market updates, as well as produce and interpret student data.
- Support the University’s social media activities focused on engaging with prospective students, parents, agency counselors and other key influencers.
- Provide support to applicants and offer holders via a variety of channels including email, WhatsApp, and in person, in order to increase student conversion.
- Undertake relevant marketing activities by the University, as required.
- Contribute proactively to the University’s market intelligence through the development and dissemination of the market knowledge and opportunities for the International Office to meet its recruitment targets.
- Actively feed into the development of Regional Manager’s virtual engagement strategies.
- Liaising effectively across the UEL internal network and with partner universities.
- Presenting to a range of audiences, including potential students and their parents, staff in schools, agents and partners.
- Supporting in the development of a recruitment-wide Agent Engagement Strategy.
- Evaluating recruitment and marketing activities in the region and work within budgetary requirements.
- Delivering outstanding levels of customer service.
- Any other activities as required by the MENA & Central Asia Regional Manager.

Essential Criteria:
- Experience of working in student recruitment or similar environment for 3-5 years.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the United Kingdom higher education sector and relevant overseas agencies, high schools and university sectors, particularly MENA.
- Experience of developing collaborative agreements and ability to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to deliver concise written reports, prepare and deliver presentations, provide ethical and accurate study advice, and professionally represent the organisation.
- Demonstrate organisational and project management skills with an ability to prioritise workload, work independently and take initiative within a small collaborative team.
- Experience of counselling students and parents.
- Experience in arranging events and marketing initiatives within timelines to contribute to performance targets.
- Ability to communicate well with a wide range of audiences.
- Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated team player.
- Customer-focused.
- Goal-driven and results-oriented profile.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, to meet challenging targets.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, self-motivated and committed.
- Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the region very soon into the role.
- Flexibility with working hours including working over weekends when required.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of International Recruitment practices within the HE sector.
- Knowledge of UK immigration and compliance regulations relating to overseas students.
- Strong understanding of virtual event platforms and experience presenting in a virtual capacity.
- Experience developing marketing campaigns to support international recruitment.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Power BI.
- Knowledge of Microsoft systems including Microsoft Teams.
- Experience working with developed CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
- Comfortable presenting on GoTo Webinar, Virtual Recruitment Days.
OTHER ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- High attention to detail and ability to lead a wider team.
- Willingness to work at university open days and offer holder events which may involve working at evenings or weekends.
