Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Health Assessment Coordinator (RHAPC) for MENA region, and in coordination with the Regional Travel Health and Vaccination Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for effective Medical Movement technical support and other selected remote location support activities for Health Assessment and Pre-departure services within the scope of Health Assessment Programs..
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Provide support to USRAP and SIV movements out of MENA region as needed.
- Assist with reviewing and following up on non-US medical movements that are departing from MENA (EU resettlement movements, Canada movements out of Gulf countries)
- Providing clinical advisory and assisting country operations in implementing protocols related to Movements according to IOM regulations.
- Provide support to non-IOM panel sites in managing refugees with Significant Medical Conditions (SMC), ensuring proper follow up is in place.
- Assist in reviewing SMC reports following HA for USRAP in MENA through Mimosa reporting tools, to identify cases requiring special attention and follow up, and communicating that with the country focal points and affiliate panel physicians.
- Monitor the implementation of pre-departure evaluation and pre-embarkation checks for refugees and immigrants with refugee benefits traveling under IOM auspices according to the designated HAP protocols.
- Contribute to quality control of the medical records while reviewing medical cases requiring assistance during travel.
- Assist in creating and distributing relevant health education materials.
- Help updating regional reports on medical movements and other areas as found needed.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.
Education and Experience
- University degree in Medicine or related field from an accredited academic institution with preferred specializations: internal medicine and its subspecialties, paediatrics, anaesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology; and minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience
- Minimum of four (4) years, post-graduation, (post internship) of continuous clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting or at IOM/similar international clinic context;
- Experience in Migration Heath Assessments;
- Demonstrated progressive experience in health programme management;
- Experience in project development, management and report writing;
- Experience in migration health emergency response is an asset; and,
- Experience in establishing partnerships with government institutions, health institutions and other partners.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic oral & written is required.
