This individual will play a key role in supporting the EMEA Commercial Leader in defining and executing GE Energy Financial Services (EFS) commercial strategy in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region related to conventional (gas) power generation and energy transition / decarbonization. The incumbent will be responsible for partnering with the GE Gas Power business to identify and execute deals in the business deal pipeline that would benefit from EFS participation, building & driving EFS deal pipeline, establishing & maintaining relationships with energy sector players, resulting in expanded EFS market presence and culminating in growth for GE Gas Power equipment & services sales, while balancing risk & reward.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with industrial players, utilities / IPPs, developers, investors, and lenders to expand EFS market presence in the region, and drive origination of new opportunities
- Coordinate with GE Gas Power on all aspects of deal screening, project development, deal structuring, investment, and financing
- Grow EFS regional deal pipeline by identifying conventional (gas) power generation & decarbonization opportunities that may benefit from EFS participation, in accordance with the defined regional commercial strategy
- Take ownership of transactions and commercial initiatives in coordination with the EMEA Commercial Leader and work with other EFS teams, including regional Deal Execution and Public Capital teams, to evaluate and execute transactions
- Work with other EFS teams, including Investment Strategy and regional Deal Execution, on assessment of relevant markets to develop & deploy appropriate investment products
- Work with EFS Deal Execution teams on deal approval processes & documentation to drive deals to close
- Attend, as necessary, EFS Investment Committee meetings to provide guidance on transactions and business opportunities
- Assist EMEA Commercial Leader in defining and executing EFS commercial strategy in the region
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent an engineering degree with financial services experience may be considered
- Minimum 10+ years related energy project finance transaction experience, including in conventional (gas) power
- Business development, origination, and industry segment experience, with strong preference to power sector experience
- Financial modeling and structuring experience, as well as experience in negotiating large, complex deals
- Must be able to travel at least 20% of the time
Desired Characteristics
- MBA, CFA, or graduate of GE Leadership Program
- European market experience, including (but not limited to) United Kingdom, Germany, Poland
- Established network of utility, IPP, financing institution, and/or investor relationships in the power sector
- Knowledge of investment products across the capital structure and deal lifecycle
- Knowledge of capital markets and export financing
- Knowledge of the GE Gas Power business or market domain
- Proven track record of successful project origination and execution, preferably on the buy-side / as principal investor
- Project development experience
- Skilled communicator who can influence a wide range of audiences via balanced risk/reward approach to deals
- Experience in a matrixed environment
- Strong team player with excellent influencing and leadership skills
- Multi-language fluency
