BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

To promote sound and cutting-edge programme support to WFP field operations, the Emergencies and Transitions Unit (PRO-P) has established an Evidence Building, Analytics, and Knowledge Management workstream. The objective of the initiative is to advance programme excellence through research and analysis of cross-cutting matters relevant for WFP operations.

In addition, PRO-P has been heavily investing on establishing a functioning Knowledge Management (KM) system, to ensure that knowledge related to emergency and transitional programming is captured, maintained, accessible and disseminated across WFP – particularly to field operations. The combination of documenting, managing, and disseminating good programme practice, will provide WFP operations with an additional basis to take forward comprehensive programming that is fit for purpose.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision and guidance of the knowledge management (KM) officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following key duties:

  1. Ensure the mapping of available PRO-P related resources (manuals, guidance documents, learning material etc.) across all WFP’s platforms;
  2. Manage and maintain digital spaces (internal and external) to ensure content is up to date and contribute to content development as needed;
  3. Contribute to the production and issuance of the PRO-P newsletter through direct engagement with PRO-P teams;
  4. Support the relevant team members with the review and upload of e-learning material into WFP’s learning platform, WeLearn;
  5. Monitor the PRO-P mailbox and ensure that queries are properly handled;
  6. Provide statics on PRO-P digital spaces on a regular basis;
  7. Coordination with other team members on KM initiatives as needed;
  8. Any other business as required.

DELIVERABLES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • KM support to PRO-P teams is provided on a regular basis
  • PRO-P digital spaces are maintained and kept up to date
  • PRO-P e-learning material has been refreshed and kept up to date
  • Inputs to the unit newsletter are regularly gathered and content formatted accordingly
  • Statistics on website traffic and user engagement with PRO-P resources are generated on a monthly basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Advanced university degree in one of the following disciplines: International relations, development studies, political science, communication or relevant field

Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years working experience in areas related to Programme Policy and/or Knowledge Management.
  • Knowledge of WFP’s portfolio of operations would be an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to plan and organize work with minimum supervision.

Languages:

Fluency (level C) in English language. Knowledge of Spanish, French or Arabic a strong asset.
