Role Purpose
- To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching centre, through the management of in-house teacher development programme and support
- To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
- To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience
- To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
Accountabilities
Teaching
- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning needs and modes of learning
- Ensure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational and learner expectations.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout their learning, and actively promote learner autonomy and progress
- Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
Teaching Centre Activities
- Support teaching centre’s activities and British Council plans
- Attend staff meetings and otherwise contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
- Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service through dissemination of information and communications with students
- Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards and uphold professional responsibilities and values. Ensure British Council’s values and behaviours are reflected in their work

Qualification
Essentials
- Undergraduate degree
- Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL
Desirable
- Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA / Trinity Diploma
Work Experience
Essential
- Successful competition of an initial TEFL qualification e.g. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL or equivalent.
- Primary aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
- Lower Secondary aged 11 to 14 (800+ hours)
- Upper Secondary aged 15 to 17 (400+ hours)
- University/Vocational students aged 18 to 25 (400+hours)
- Adults General English 18+ (800+ hours)
- Demonstrate subject knowledge
- Engage and motivate learners
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Plan and deliver coherent lessons
- Make use of assessment and feedback
- Manage teaching and learning resources
- Uphold professional responsibilities and values
Desirable
- Experience in teaching relevant age groups
- Early Years aged 2 to 5 (400+hours)
Salary & Benefits
- Salary : DZ 67,320 – 78,408 / month Gross (Depend on qualification and experience)
- Meal allowance : DZD 3,300
- Transportation Allowance : DZD 1,320
- Annual Leaves : 22.5annual leaves and 14 public holidays
- Accomodation Allowance/Setting allowances/Medical Allowance- NOT applicable for this role.
Additional Information
- Contract Duration : 1 Year Fixed Term Renewable
- Teaching Hours :16 hours/week
- Local restrictions on employment : These roles are only open to applicants who have current permission to live and work in Algeria.
