Under general direction of the Finance Manager, this position his responsible for leading the P2P/ Payables function, which includes handling the general ledger, and managing the accounts payable activities for the company. In addition, this role will lead Finance controls and compliance and manage internal and external audits.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
To document, implement, and update SOP for the Finance Department in collaboration with Finance team and facilitate the process of internal audit;
Review and establish controls as required to ensure a robust quality accounting function;
Ensure corporate governance policies and procedures are in place and up-to-date;
Ensure proper Accounting leading to improvement in book keeping in line with Local & Group Policies & Procedures;
Ensure controlling, accounting control procedures and credit management reporting on business unit level and ensuring compliance with statutory & group rules;
Liaising with the procurement department, ensure that the company has maintained proper contracts with all vendors;
Ensure that the costs related to all major contracts are in accordance with agreed terms and proper documentation is obtained and disputes are resolved amicably and in best interest of the company;
Ensure that invoices from all contracts are with proper documentation and are in accordance with agreed terms and conditions;
Reviews the suppliers’ aging analysis to ensure payment to suppliers;
Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly & year-end books close reporting;
Prepare and finalize periodic management reports, forecast, budget, target compliant with business policies and standards and timely report the same in the group’s system;
Design, prepare and finalize various management reports as required by the management from time-to-time and ensure distribution within timely manner;
Complete variance analysis on volume, tariff, fixed cost, variable costs, Capex, depreciation and interest expenses;
Ensure that the accounting system is up-to-date with all transactions;
Supervise expense payments, monthly expense reporting;
Review monthly / periodic reconciliation for all accounts, with no items open beyond agreed SLA;
Ensure that all procedures are in place for asset coding and identification and they are properly adhered to keep track all assets depreciations, additions, and project expenses to be capitalized;
Develop process improvements with a focus on reducing costs and improving efficiency;
Effectively manage internal customer by acting as consultant to Finance department and acting as a change agent;
Interacts with the banks and prepares the Funds Flow Reports for all banks; analyses and recommend the need of transfers to eliminate the possibility of idle funds;
Prepares the Funds Utilization and forecast after taking into account the present bank balances, expected receipts and projected payments;
Reviews bank payments, Bank and Cash reconciliations;
Handle all tax related matters which may become applicable to the company and ensure timely compliance on all tax related matters, including appropriate reporting to the relevant stakeholders;
Provides supervision and direction for subordinates including following:-
Provides direction and instruction to subordinate staff, providing regular feedback and regular appraisals;
Follows company management policies and procedures in the application of managing subordinates;
Participates in career plan development for subordinates;
The impact of this position will primarily to ensure proper Accounting by the terminal leading to improvements in the high quality book keeping in line with Local & Group Policies and Procedures;
The position is required to constantly find improvements and best practices for better book keeping;
The position has a complex nature impaction both financial & operational performance;
Serve as primary liaison with auditors (internal & external) during annual financial audit, mid-year review, and interim procedures. This includes addressing questions raised by the auditors during their field work and updating auditors on new accounting issues encountered by organization.
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Requires a university degree in business or accounting. Qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent is preferable.
Requires at least five years of progressively more responsible general accounting and finance experience. Requires at least two years of management / supervisory experience.
Must have extensive knowledge of international accounting standards, accounting principles and practices, including some knowledge of international audit standards.
Must have a working knowledge of Management Accounting fundamentals and its applications
Must have team management experience
Must be familiar with best practices in the professional field of accounting.
Must have thorough understanding and working knowledge of accounting specific software. Requires proficiency in various software applications and programs, specifically EXCEL spread sheets.
Requires a high level of planning and organizational skills.
Requires excellent analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyse data.
Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment.
Must be able to handle company information with confidentiality and discretion.
