Job Description
NPA Process

  • Responsible for managing the Provisioning process as per CBUAE requirements under IAS 39 accounting standard and also support the IFRS9 provisioning process
  • Responsible for the monthly data analysis and review of the entire CIB, PBG, and Subsidiaries portfolio across FAB including Head Office and each International location
  • Collate customer/account level data across various sources and calculate NPLs, Provisions as per our internal policies for each business and also in line with regulations. Provide provisions data at the customer, segment, and product level to the Business, Credit, Risk, and Finance on a monthly basis
  • Provide manual data feeds to the IFRS9 engine on a monthly basis to calculate ECLs
  • Support the HoPPM and HoCs in reviewing key portfolio metrics for each segment and provide a detailed monthly dashboard as well as customer/account wise Provisions, IIS, NPL, collateral coverage data for internal review
  • Work with each Business and Credit function to review and reconcile monthly provisions, and work with Finance to ensure they are properly booked in the respective GLs
  • Work with Credit, Risk, and Finance to compare provisions as per CBUAE requirements with IFRS9 ECL for FAB, understand provision adequacy and provide impact analysis to Senior Management

Reporting, MIS

  • Provide detailed provision dashboards on a monthly basis with analysis on month on month variances, movement of data based on past dues/bucketing, view of NPLs and Provisions by business/product segment
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as and when requested by Senior Management, and also provide reports to internal/external Audit and Central Banks/regulators as and when required

Project Management

  • Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the process. Collaborate with Risk, Finance, CAD, and IT to improve/streamline the systems/processes
  • Represent Group Credit in any Credit Risk related special projects as and when required to help strengthen FAB's credit risk profile
  • Support the development of the NPA dashboards in Credit Analytics Portal for the respective Lines of Business, and ensure proper scorecards/dashboards are built for decision making, and performance management
  • Evaluate process & systems hypothesis, controls, data models, migration strategies (and their impact on provisions, suspension of interest, etc.) for any system upgrade, integration, data/portfolio migration within UAE & International locations

Job Context

  • Evaluate Group Credit policies, particularly the sections related to Provisioning and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure effectiveness of business monitoring processes, and ensure alerts are created for account owners (Business & Credit) to take corrective actions
  • Timely and quality delivery of analytical insights and actions required to be undertaken to achieve our BSC objectives, whilst strengthening the portfolio against credit/market/operational risks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related discipline, and possess other relevant qualifications (CFA, FRM, etc.)
  • Strong background in Credit Risk Management, Business/Data Analytics, Portfolio Management
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other data analytics platforms incl. Power BI, SAS, etc.

Minimum Experience

  • 5-10 years of work experience in credit risk management, provisioning, portfolio management, financial management, analytics and project management within the financial services industry
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience running the provisions process for a reputable UAE/GCC bank
  • Excellent understanding of IFRS9/IAS39 guidelines, as well as CBUAE regulations on provisioning
  • Proven skillset in portfolio analytics including review of customer, transaction level data across CIB and PBG business segments
  • Strong skillset in building dashboards, reports with the ability to present complex problems, data in a cohesive and structured manner for senior stakeholders to consume
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical and technical skills.

Additional Information
As part of the Business Office (Projects & Portfolio Mgmt.) for Group Credit, the selected candidate will assist Head of Provisions Reporting in the Provisioning Process, including the review of Non Performing Assets (NPAs), reporting of NPLs, calculation of Specific Provisions, Interest in Suspense, as well as ECLs for FAB.
The Job holder will be required to support the monthly provisioning process for each Business/Product segment as per CB UAE requirements. She/he shall assist in collating the monthly provisioning dashboards/analysis for Business, Credit stakeholders highlighting the quality of the portfolio including NPLs, NPL Coverage, CoR, impairement charges, provisions as per IAS39 and IFRS9 standards, Interest in Suspense (IIS), write-offs, skips, bucket movements, vintage analysis, etc.
The candidate will be required to work closely with Group Finance, CAD, and Operations for the reconciliation of data, including posting of manual entries, and financial balances across core-banking and Finance systems.
The candidate will assist in review of NPLs and Provisions by Internal/External Audit, and also support monthly/quarterly/adhoc submissions and reviews by Central Bank.
