The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian organisation which provides
assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. The NRC programme in Jordan began shortly after the creation of Zaatari Refugee Camp in August, 2012.
NRC is now a key partner of UNICEF and UNHCR in Jordan with 150 staff, working to meet the needs of Syrian
refugees and Jordanian communities in which they live.
NRC-Jordan is part of a regional response to the Syrian refugee crisis that includes programmes in Lebanon and Iraq, as well. In Jordan, NRC provides relief items and shelters to Syrian refugee families, along formal and informal education for children and youth alike.
NRC cooperates closely with Jordanian Government Ministries and UN partner agencies to share its experience and technical knowledge acquired from mass displacement in other contexts to better protect vulnerable refugees. NRC is expanding its operations in response to the growing needs of Syrian refugees fleeing violence conflict.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
- Management of support staff
- Implement a plan of action for a delegated portfolio of support functions projects (activities, budget and project documentation)
- Day to day follow of progress in project implementation
- Ensure compliance with NRC policies CC tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents
- Ensure capacity building of support staff and transfer key skills
- Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
- Source appropriate suppliers in the local market for the procurement of goods and/or services based on the commonly requested goods and services .
- Monitor and document (procurement, warehousing) by partners and/or contractors (plan of action activities, contracts).
- Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers to ensure having the best value for money.
- Ensure local procurement conducted complies with NRC and donor procurement policies & procedures, conduct regular spot checks of the teams’ procurement files to ensure the compliance,Establish and maintain good professional working relationship with suppliers, service providers and contractors whilst strictly adhering to NRC anti-corruption guidelines and NRC's Code of Conduct.
- Review the quality of purchased products, Ensure that the purchased products are always compatible with NRC needs
- Ensure that the Agresso Procurement form is maintained and is available for distribution to managers on a regular weekly and monthly basis.
- Enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases
- Ensure that all appropriate purchase supporting documents are prepared for relevant approvals
- Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed
- Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers
- Ensure that procurement files are complete and prepared for the Finance Department for timely payments of procured Goods and Services
- Ensure fulfilment of the whole procurement process as per NRC Logistics Handbook, SOP’s, and per donor requirements where required.
- Managingne the asset, by working closely with the focal point of the asset
- Work with the Area Logistics Coordinator to optimize cost effectiveness across the department
- Support warehousing team in inventory management, storage space, and ensuring safety standards.
