We are currently seeking to fill a Performance Management intern position in our Career Management Branch of the HR Division.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION

WFP’s dedication to those it serves requires excellence in the competence, skills, and ethical conduct of its workforce. To support this, the Career Management Branch plays a key role given its mandate of being responsible for performance management, learning and development, career management and development, WFP’s internal promotion system, and employee engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the HR Officer, the candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Assist with a broad range of processes related to talent management, with an emphasis on performance management and employee engagement which are designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of WFP’s workforce.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting from performance management systems to support requests, projects and initiatives, and gathering information to identify trends.
  • Contribute to the design and support the rollout of progressive online tools and other creative solutions to support the work of HR, the Branch, and WFP employees worldwide, such as the HCM implementation.
  • Support the development of effective and innovative communication plans with a view to ensure a high level of engagement for all HR and Career Management-related initiatives.
  • Provide support to other key HR initiatives coordinated by the Branch, such as engagement support, learning and development and long service awards.
  • Be part of the HR team that works closely with Country Offices to support the effective implementation of relevant initiatives in the field, where WFP’s support is most needed.
  • Stay relevant and up to date with market practices and external networks to build recognized capability and credibility. Use this knowledge to identify areas for improvement, share insights with global teams, and build capability in this area.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university;
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, MS Teams).

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated self-starter with drive and initiative
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data reporting
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good communication skills, both orally and writing
  • Aptitude in working with technology systems
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Ability to familiarize quickly with new concepts and information
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a multicultural environment

WORKING LANGUAGES

Working knowledge of English (proficiency/level C) is required. A second UN language (in particular, Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an asset.

SUPERVISION

Under the general supervision of the HR Officer, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:

  • Have had hands-on experience on multiple aspects of the performance management process
  • Have had exposure to performance management systems, their design and improvement
  • Have had direct contact with colleagues globally through providing responsive support and troubleshooting in areas related to performance management

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
  • Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
