Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war almost five years ago, Mercy Corps has worked to address the urgent needs of nearly 4 million people both inside Syria and in neighboring countries
General Position Summary.
Working in Procurement Department under a direct supervision of the Procurement Coordinator, the Intern will assist Procurement department in maintaining procurement documents through the systems in place (Pro-Source, Trackers in sheets) , and will Work closely with Program, Administration, Finance and Logistics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain Procurement documents in accordance with Mercy Corps Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain filing system of procurement files electronically and Physically.
- Support in the market researches.
- Support procurement team in submitting the procurement Contracts, POs, Task Orders for finance and fill the related information in the finance tracker.
- Provide ad hoc support to other team members
- Other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Through the internship, the intern will acquire:
- Learning experiences that combine in-class theory with real-world applications
- Ability to work effectively with other team members.
DELIVERABLES:
The intern is expected to provide support to the team in terms of:
- Maintain a proper filing system of all Procurement records records.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
Jordan is a Middle Eastern country with insufficient supplies of water, oil and other natural resources. Other challenges include budget deficit, poverty and unemployment. Amman, like any other city, is divided between the higher income population (west of Amman) where English is widely spoken, and the lower income population (East of Amman). Islam is if the official religion of the Kingdom, around 92% of the population is Muslim. People of Jordan are conservative; therefore, decent clothing is essential especially in parts other than West of Amman.
Mercy Corps interns and volunteers represent the agency both during and outside of work hours and are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
