Youth Team Leader Jordan Camps Area

Job Description

The purpose of a Team Leader is to manage a CC project team at field office level. The following is a brief description of the role.

1.Role and responsibilities

Generic responsibilities (max 10)

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  1. Management of project staff
  2. Implement a plan of action for the delegated portfolio of CC (X) projects (activities, budget, and project documentation).
  3. Day-to-day follow of progress in project implementation.
  4. Ensure compliance with NRC policies CC tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  5. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  6. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  7. Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.
  8. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  9. Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
  10. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus, and type of program intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Under the supervision of the Youth Coordinator, handle and support the planning and implementation of Youth Program activities in camps, adhering to NRC quality standards and guidelines.
  • To be aware of and work within the frame of the “Youth Pathways” modality of the Youth Program.
  • Oversee the daily supervision, coordination, performance management, and guidance provision to the direct team of reports of the program implementation officers.
  • Identify, analyze, and inform key processes and gaps in the implementation of the activities and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Overview of the distribution of the tasks for key processes/events, e.g., outreach, registration, scheduling, and graduations.
  • Represent the NRC Youth Program at community gatherings on Youth/Education, in addition to other working groups (WGs) as delegated by the Youth Coordinator.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on-site activities and supervise other numeric data recording on the site level.
  • Liaise with the site Operations Officer on stock management procedures and physical site fixtures.

Critical interfaces

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Project planning: CC Specialists
  • Area operations: Support Coordinators (field office coordinators)
  • Staff capacity building: CC Specialists, HR Development Officer
  • Implementation: CC Specialists

Scale and scope of the position

Staff: 2 project staff – national / and 20-25 IBVs+ Stakeholders: NGOs. INGOs, Camp stakeholders.

Budgets: List of budgets covered by post holder, and size of budget Information: DocuSign, Kaya, OKTA, Excel, and MS Office.

2.Competencies

Competencies are important for the employee and the organization to deliver desired results. They are relevant for all staff and are divided into the following two categories:

  • Experience from working in a Youth/Education project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Context-related skills, knowledge, and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):

  • Knowledge of the context in (Youth/Education).
  • Experience in Camp context.
  • Experience in team management.
  1. Behavioral competencies (max 6)

3.Performance Management

The employee will be accountable for the responsibilities and the competencies, in accordance with the NRC Performance Management Manual. The following documents will be used for performance reviews:
