Controller
CRDF Global is recruiting an experienced Controller reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization’s accounting function, including General Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. The ideal candidate works well in a team environment and will display a can-do attitude focused on process improvement and building relationships across the organization. The Controller should have relevant nonprofit accounting, finance knowledge, and experience. The position requires, experienced leadership; strong problem solving and organizational skills; excellent desktop application and accounting system skills; and proven customer service, interpersonal and communications skills.
Major Responsibilities:
Overall
- Enforces and maintains policies/controls and develops procedures to deliver organizational requirements
- Plans and supports the execution of goals and objectives; accountable for the team’s performance
- Recruits, supervises, develops, and retains staff
- Provides organizational training on use of tools and systems
General Accounting
- Supports the CFO with Committee and Board preparation
- Leads preparation for annual external and internal audits; interacts with auditors, manages field work and subsequent negotiations
- Prepares and leads preparation of tax filing requirements (federal and state)
- Prepares monthly financial statements
- Analyzes monthly ledger activity and closes month- and year-end
- Analyzes the impact for changes in accounting and federal regulations on the organization
- Ensures integrity of Costpoint General Ledger, Subledgers, and Time & Expense
- Ensures Financial and Regulatory compliance U.S. GAAP and Uniform Guidance
Payments
- Ensures resources, training, and tools are adequate to support the Payments function
- Manages banking and vendor relationships
- Measures and tracks customer satisfaction
Payroll
- Ensures resources, training, and tools are adequate to support the Payroll function
- Measures and tracks customer satisfaction
- Partners with HR department on benefits administration, 403(b) and related audit, deductions, and compensation
Qualifications:
- Licensed CPA required
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Finance or Accounting including experience managing and developing senior-level staff
- 5+ previous years’ experience as a Controller
- Minimum 5 years nonprofit and/or U.S. government contracting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- Knowledge of Costpoint highly preferred
- Experience managing financial systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Previous audit experience
- Experience in international program activities, a plus
